It was nearly on sunset and we had the whole river to ourselves, as we were walking along Jackson dropped to one knee, it was such a perfect moment and I was completely shocked.
I was genuinely excited to see him every single day, got butterflies in my stomach from a text or call from him, and found myself more relaxed and happier doing the most mundane tasks.
We clicked instantly, we have similar interests, mutual respect for each other’s thoughts and it always felt we were meant for each other.
We were together young, so definitely had our ups and downs at the beginning, but we always knew it was going to be a forever kind of thing.
I proposed at one of our favourite spots, Man O War at Waiheke, during a weekend’s sailing trip. We’d had a nice afternoon with a few wines and were heading back to the boat when I said I’d left my credit card at the bar.

After a fun-filled eight months together, when Merusha left for London, she wrote me a letter expressing her hopes for the future together.
After that first date we both knew that we wanted to get to know each other more but we were surprised by how much our feelings grew for each other in such a short period of time!
All of these little moments compounded into something bigger, where I fell in love without even fully realizing it.
