Jay + Justin by Taylah Jayne Photography

We clicked instantly, we have similar interests, mutual respect for each other’s thoughts and it always felt we were meant for each other.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We both love staying active, socializing with friends, spending time at the beach, travelling and spending time with family.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

JB: We met through mutual friends; I first met Justin at our friend’s 21st party in 2015. We both went back to our friend’s house, and I realized I didn’t have enough money for a cab to get home, so I ended up spending the night and getting to know Justin better. We didn’t start properly hanging out until the year after, we were friends for a long time, but we were inseparable from the beginning of our friendship. I honestly didn’t expect anything other than a good friendship until we kissed, and the rest is history.

JF: My first impression of Jay was that she was beautiful, genuine, and kind. She was genuinely interested in what other people had to say and was so easy to talk to about anything, which made me want to spend more and more time around her.

When did you first realize that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

We started off as friends, and once we kissed a couple of months later, and since then, we’ve been pretty much inseparable. We clicked instantly, we have similar interests, mutual respect for each other’s thoughts and it always felt we were meant for each other.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Justin proposed at our Airbnb (Hector Cave House) in Santorini, Greece in September 2022 and organised a sunset private dinner that evening. The proposal was a complete surprise. The morning he proposed, he popped down to a jeweler and purchased a diamond wedding band. When we arrived back to Australia, we went engagement ring shopping, and we were able to enjoy the whole process together and pick out a ring we both loved.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…

JB: We always envisioned a small and intimate wedding with our family and closest friends and a big recovery party with everyone the next day. We wanted the style of our day to be timeless and chic, I also wanted a non-traditional wedding, we decided against having a bridal party as we were having all our closest friends on the day celebrating with us anyway, so we didn’t do a wedding cake, and I had both my parents walk me down the aisle. We had our ceremony at a Mediterranean-inspired estate, Casa Campana. It all came together so beautifully; it was the most perfect day.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

JB: I was happy to splurge on my wedding day shoes (Jimmy Choos). I’ve known the exact pair I wanted since the first time I saw them and couldn’t have imagined wearing anything else.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

JB: My veil kept getting stuck on the concrete stairs; I thought I was never going to make it to Justin.

JF: As I started reading my vows, someone on a nearby property decided it would be a good idea to start up a tractor and do some mowing. Jay later told me she only actually heard half of my vows, so luckily, we had a full video of the ceremony, which we got to watch back together.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

JB: I knew I always wanted to wear a dress that didn’t have a train and complimented a modern, chic, timeless look. The Sidonie dress by Prea James Bridal was exactly what I had envisioned and was the most perfect dress to wear all day and night. The dress was made to wear as a tea-length, but I ended up getting it altered and adding extra length for an added touch of elegance. I paired my dress with Jimmy Choo Aurelie 85 shoes, Natasha Schweitzer Stella Keshi Pearl Earrings and a diamond bracelet by Bentley De Lisle designed by Justin and me with my mother-in-law’s diamond.
