Tate + MacArthur by Nicole Marie Photo

I knew we had something special from very early on. Being 15 and 17 when we started dating I think most people just thought it would be a high school relationship but we both knew very early on we would be together forever.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
TB – MacArthur owns a finishing carpentry business and has always had a passion for building things. He loves any new project that comes his way which usually ends up with an excess of toys! I am a business owner as well as work for my Families company. I’ve always had a passion for business which led me to get my commerce degree and start to work with my father.
MacArthur and I also own a franchise together along with another couple. We both love to travel and have been fortunate enough to see many countries together. You can usually find us golfing together in the summers and enjoying the lake!

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
TB – 10 years ago – I was 15 when I decided to make my screensaver on my cell phone this guy I thought was very cute (creepy I know). We were acquaintances as we both went to the same highschool. I really thought there was no chance this guy 2 years older than me would ever like me. I was quite smitten when he ended up asking me for my number. It took about 6 months for MacArthur to realize he did want to date me and we have been together ever since.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
TB – I honestly knew when I was 15 I wanted to marry MacArthur – before he even asked me out! My 11:11 wish the many years we were dating was always that I hope I get to marry him. I knew we had something special from very early on. Being 15 and 17 when we started dating I think most people just thought it would be a high school relationship but we both knew very early on we would be together forever.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
TB – We got engaged June of 2020. We had been dating almost 8 years. MacArthur and I often go walk by the river with our dog but this time I had a little bit of a suspicion it may happen. He had asked me a few days prior if I wanted to go for a walk which had me thinking he may be proposing. I had mentioned it to a few friends that day that I thought it could be finally happening tonight – they all thought I was crazy and that I “always” thought it was maybe happening! As soon as we got out of the vehicle to start our walk I noticed in his back pocket that it looked like a ring box was in it. Let me tell you… that was the longest walk knowing that he was most likely proposing. It was a perfect sunset and very intimate as no one else was around – I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
TB – The vision we had was very elegant and timeless. We wanted everything white with black accents. I had always pictured my bridesmaids in a white-ish dress, my florals all white and the guys in black. The white Lagonda was a perfect addition to our wedding day and really brought the vision all together. We really wanted our wedding to be about spending the day celebrating our love with all of our friends and family and it was just that!

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
TB – The florals were the number one thing I wanted to splurge on. I had a vision for the arch and the florist designed it more beautiful than I could imagine. The florals made the room look like a fairytale! Spending money on a photographer was something also very necessary for us. This day is something we will want to look back on and show our children so having amazing photos meant a lot to us.
