The Newest Collection from Alter Me

Alter Me is excited to announce the drop of its newest collection, offering a beautiful range of gowns for every bride.

From modern styles to classic details, this collection has something for everyone. We spoke with Nazneen of Alter Me to learn more about the inspiration behind the collection, what makes it special, and how brides can find their perfect dress in-store. Read on for an inside look at the newest styles and helpful tips for your wedding day.

What inspired the selection of the 30 unique pieces in this new collection?

These 30 pieces have been hand-selected so brides can explore various silhouettes in a range of fabrics that can be worn to many different styles/locations of weddings. Our collection caters to brides who are looking for a more sophisticated aesthetic to their wedding dress, with a touch of playfulness. The gowns are made using luxurious laces, soft tulles and quality crepe and satins to ooze the essence of a mature woman/bride owning the room, and the hint of playfulness comes from the designs itself. Majority of the pieces have detachable accessories so brides are able to wear the same dress with a different look.

Can you tell us more about the different European brands featured in this collection?

Rosa Clara is one of the top 5 bridal designers in Europe and her gowns are known for their clean lines, modern silhouettes, and sophisticated details. She uses high-quality fabrics (one of her couture lace is priced at AUD1016/m) and precision craftsmanship, that we at Alter Me align with. It sets Rosa Clará’s dresses apart from the quick, easy-made gowns.

We also stock Luna Novias & Adriana Alier, who have more softer aesthetics. Their collections use a hint of lace on their gowns but are mostly in plain fabrics that are uncomplicated to wear and feel good in.

What makes this collection unique compared to previous ones available in your boutique? What makes this collection a must-see for brides visiting your boutique?

This is the very first collection Alter Me has stocked so I don’t have anything previous to compare to. But these gowns are already getting brides in, making them feel luxurious when they wear them. Even though brides are not well educated on fabrics, when they put our gowns on they can feel how different they are to the other dresses they’ve tried on. The gowns are also very light-weight compared to other ballroom/a-line/princess silhouettes, so brides absolutely love that!

How do these designs align with the needs and preferences of modern brides?

Modern brides are now searching for second-dresses for their reception attire rather than wearing their ceremony gowns. For some brides who like the idea of that but unfortunately cannot afford to purchase another dress, our gowns are perfect for it because the majority of the designs can be worn in many ways! They come with detachable accessories such as sleeves, overskirts, jackets and capes; making them versatile but also giving brides a second look when required.

What advice do you offer to brides who feel overwhelmed in their search for the perfect wedding dress?

Brides feel overwhelmed because they are unsure of what they are searching for in a dress. There will be many dresses that are beautiful, but how will they know which is ‘the one’? I always advise brides to go and try on many different silhouettes, necklines and fabrics instead of making mood boards. Mood boards are great for inspiration and for visualisation but there are many times you think something will look good on you just to find out it doesn’t, so it’s best to try them on.

I suggest viewing collections online and booking with one or two stores max to do the initial research. Anymore than that you’ll be wasting money and start to overthink things. Knowing which stores to go to is important.

Once you can knuckle down on which silhouette suits your body shape (ballgown, a-line, fit & flare, sleeves/no sleeves, etc) then you can move onto the neckline styles (boat, square, V, plunge, etc). Brides will mostly end up loving the fabric the dress is in but if they don’t they can always go down the custom route and make their wedding dress with us as well.
