Flock Events has the aim of making the gathering experience better. We are huge lounge advocates and believe having seated areas at an event is an essential part of it…
We style and create areas in a range of designs to make the cocktail/canape part of a wedding or event as important as the ceremony/reception.
What makes you and your work unique:
We created Flock because we saw so many events where guests were standing around, sometimes there weren’t even bar leaners! We knew the USA event scene had a strong lounge aspect, so we wanted to really bring that to NZ in a large way. Our range is expanding to Auckland in October, and once it does, we will have over 200 lounge pieces in our range.
Any dreams or aspirations you would like to share:
We dream so often of where Flock can go. We are already taking the first step in that dream in expanding to Auckland in October. We want to become a full hire/style company in the next couple of seasons, and get excited about the possibilities of expanding into the other areas furniture can go! We try and stay true to our roots and focus on lounges, but we have 13 options of chairs and tables. So we want to expand that more, and then explore where we can head with table top and tableware hire.

What did you do before Flock Events?
A bit of a story there! Kris and I had our own grain farm in the USA before moving to NZ, (although I’m originally a Kiwi). Kris’ whole family farms, too. He was an amazing farmer, and I think that work ethic has allowed us to thrive here. I’m really excited to see him loving Flock, because selling our farm wasn’t an easy decision for him. I was/am a classical musician and met Kris when completing my Masters in performance in North America. I still play, and am found with the New Zealand Symphony and Hawke’s Bay Orchestra, which keeps my passion alive.
What has been your biggest career achievement to date?
We started Flock last year, truly launching in August. Our furniture arrived in September, and we managed to have a season of over 100 events. We were blown away. We are so thankful for the trust that clients and couples put in us and our brand. We know that we don’t exist without their support and strive to offer amazing service to each client / couple so we show our appreciation.
Whose wedding or what event would you most like to work on?
Wouldn’t mind the upcoming PM wedding!!
