The exquisite gowns that hang in the Vinka Design workroom are each bespoke designs made in-house by an experienced staff led by Anita Turner, the label’s owner and head designer, who has a depth of knowledge of bridal couture unrivalled in New Zealand.
Vinka Design takes it’s name from founder Vinka Lucas MNZM, an entrepreneur who paved the way for modern bridal design in New Zealand, since 1959. Today this legacy is upheld by her daughter Anita, who has spent her life mastering her craft working for the label.
Vinka Design believe that designing and creating a wedding dress is an art form – a dress is not a piece that is made to be admired from a distance – it is instead made to be worn, and therefore the driving force in it’s creation is the identity of the person who will be wearing it.
