Our wedding ended up being a celebration filled with colour (mostly pink), character, and charm, just like us.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
Montana: I’m a Pre-Primary teacher by day, reality TV enthusiast by night. I love all things pink, leopard print, and arts and crafts. Musical theatre is my happy place, Meg Mac is the soundtrack to my life, and I have an undeniable need to rearrange furniture for “a fresh vibe” on a regular basis.
Blaine: I spend my days operating concrete pumping trucks and my free time obsessing over good architecture, collecting records, and watching AFL. I’ve got a passion for Japanese-inspired tattoos, great food, and Dobermans.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
Our love story begins the way all modern millennial fairy tales do: with a swipe to the right. A classic Tinder love tale. Our first date kicked off at the gin bar, Flour Factory. One thing led to another (gin led to rum), and we found ourselves at Sneaky Tony’s. But the real magic happened at the most romantic spot in all of Perth… the famous “The Court”. Blaine’s first impression of Montana? She was late (fashionably in Montana’s defense) and never stopped talking. Montana’s first impression of Blaine? his smile—infectious in the best way possible. And just like that, a swipe turned into a story.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
Montana: This might sound a bit lame, but I just knew from the start. There was this incredible feeling I had right off the bat; a sense of ease whenever I was with Blaine. I felt like I could be my true, raw self from the get-go, and that was something really special. It was like everything just “clicked”, and I knew he was someone I’d want to spend my life with.
Blaine: For me, it’s a little simpler. Montana baked me homemade Wagon Wheel cookies. How could I not want to spend the rest of my life with the person who made me the best cookies ever?
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
Oh, our proposal was one for the books! It was so unique and unexpected. Blaine popped the question at the Meg Mac concert on a Thursday night at the Perth Astor Theatre. Now, I (Montana) am low-key obsessed with Meg Mac, and I’ve always joked that she’d call me up on stage as her biggest fan. So, when she started talking and actually mentioned my name, I was in total disbelief. And then, before I could even process what was happening, Blaine was pushing me to stand up and was down on one knee, proposing to me in front of a cheering crowd. It was a moment straight out of a movie, and I could hardly believe it. A Meg Mac song playing, my favourite artist mentioning my name, and Blaine asking me to marry him… it was a proposal I’ll never forget!

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.
Our wedding wasn’t the typical “bride does all the planning” situation; it was a true team effort. We both had a hand in every detail because, honestly, we wanted our day to feel authentically us. So, our wedding ended up being a celebration filled with colour (mostly pink), character, and charm, just like us.
We tied the knot at Rebel Rebel Wedding Chapel, and we loved everything about it. The Vegas vibes were absolutely on point, and the intimate size of the venue made it feel personal and special. It was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony.
For the reception, we knew we wanted something relaxed and easy-going. We chose a long table with shared plates at our local neighbourhood wine and Italian bar. It was the perfect spot because we wanted to be able to have meaningful conversations with every guest and create a vibe where it felt like we were all just at home together, enjoying each other’s company.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
Montana: Flowers. Always flowers. No matter how I pictured our wedding—big, small, or even an elopement—one thing was always certain: it had to be filled with beautiful blooms. Karla from Franc Flora absolutely delivered the brief. Every petal, every arrangement, every little floral touch was absolute perfection. It was everything I dreamed of and more!
Blaine: Luxe post-wedding accommodation. After all the excitement, I wanted somewhere special to unwind and soak it all in. The Treasury Building was the perfect choice—elegant, indulgent, and the ideal place to kick off married life in style.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
The weather. We chose early October to get married because of the beautiful spring sunshine and cooler temperatures. We are not summer people and hate the heat. Just our luck, it was a hot 38 degrees on our wedding day.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Picking our wedding outfits was by far the easiest part for both of us.
For me (Montana), I knew exactly what I wanted; something fun, something so authentically me, and something that would make my friends and family take one look and say, “That’s so Montana!” and they did. I’ve always adored an Audrey Hepburn-inspired tea-length dress; flirty, girly, and timeless. It made me feel like the best version of myself, and of course, I had to pair it with pink stilettos and pink drop earrings. Because if you know me, you know pink was non-negotiable.
Blaine also wanted something a little different from the traditional black suit. A forest green suit was an easy choice; it felt sharp and stylish, but skipping the tie and leaving the top button undone gave it that relaxed, effortless vibe. But the real magic was in the details. Up close, Blaine’s outfit had an extra-special touch; gold cufflinks I got him for the day. Each one was engraved with the faces of our two loves: our Dobermans. One side had Jetson, our angel dog, watching over us, and the other had Atlas, our pup at home.
Our outfits weren’t just clothes, they were us and that made them unique and perfect.
