Jordan + Sienna by Cecile Louise Photography

A whimsical garden celebration inspired by the French countryside

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Hello! We’re Jordan and Sienna Lee, calling Calgary, Alta. Home – the very city where our story began. By day, we both navigate the corporate world, but outside of work, Jordan’s spends his time coaching AAA hockey, while Sienna keeps things balanced teaching Pilates.

We love hosting gatherings and spending time with our family and close friends, who have truly become like second family to us. This summer, you would have found us splitting time between soaking up the sun on different patios around the city, celebrating the love of our friends at their weddings – and, of course, celebrating our own special day. What did all these moments have in common? Great company and unforgettable memories made.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Jordan and Sienna first crossed paths in 2017 at Mount Royal University. They were assigned to the same group in a communications theory class, setting the stage for a friendship that quickly grew. Over the semester, they spent countless hours studying together, hitting the gym and enjoying nights out with friends. On one night out, Jordan told a mutual friend that he was going to marry Sienna one day. Plot twist: the friend quickly turned around and shared the news with Sienna. Eight years later, it became a reality.

While Jordan brings the energy and Sienna takes care of the plans, together they build a truly complementary life. Best friends and biggest supporters, they bring out the very best in each other.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.).

With her mother Sunny being a florist, Sienna grew up surrounded by weddings – so she knew exactly the feeling she wanted to create: a whimsical garden celebration inspired by the French countryside. “Our Day in May” was filled with playful, thoughtful details that embraced colour, nature and charm. A vintage oil painting served as the seating chart, golden geese floated above guests in the tent, and Sienna and her bridesmaids hand-crafted clay seating card holders in the shapes of olives, baguettes and cheese wheels that doubled as polaroid holder keepsakes. The couple had cabinetry brought in to house the bar, creating the cozy, layered feeling of hosting friends for a magical garden dinner party at home. At the ceremony, guests sipped cocktails from coloured vintage glassware displayed on cidery ladders—a nod to her family’s orchard— while golden bells framed the ceremony aisle and florals were spread around the area to mimic a secret garden.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

We were lucky enough to get married on Sienna’s family property, tucked into the beautiful Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The setting itself was breathtaking with rolling hills, wild grasses and mountain views. We really leaned into that natural beauty instead of trying to compete with it. Our florals were inspired by what you’d actually find in a garden: soft, romantic blooms mixed with lush greenery, bushes, and even small trees to bring in depth and texture. It felt organic and effortless – exactly the vibe we were going for. What made it even more special? Sienna’s mum, Sunny, is a florist and created all the floral elements herself. She brought the entire vision to life with so much love and intention. It was such a personal touch and truly one of the highlights of the day.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

Watching our vision come to life was incredible – Sienna had a clear idea of how she wanted the day to feel, and seeing it all come together was pure magic. Planning can definitely be stressful at times, but don’t forget what it’s all for: marrying your best friend  Our top tip? Invest in the extra help – especially for anything that comes after the big day. Whether it’s tear-down, returns, or post-wedding logistics, having a team in place to handle it all means you get to fully relax, soak up every moment and truly enjoy the newlywed glow.

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?

Choosing a photographer is one of the most personal decisions you can make when planning a wedding as they’re with you for so many intimate, in-between moments. Cecile was everything we could’ve hoped for and more. Her calming presence and sweet energy fit seamlessly into Our Day in May. She made the entire photo process feel natural and effortless (which is no small feat!) One of our favourite little touches? She played music during our portraits, which kept the mood fun and helped fill any quiet moments. It made the whole experience feel effortless. And the florals… we’re still not over them. Sienna’s mum, Sunny, brought our dream of a spring garden in full bloom to life in the most breathtaking way. The arrangements were so flawless that Jordan’s Uncle Tim—whose dad worked in the floral industry—was convinced the centrepieces were fake. Nope! They were very much real.  Every single bloom was placed with so much care and intention. It was incredibly special to have something so meaningful created by someone we love.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?

Sienna began her dress search in her hometown of Calgary but quickly realized nothing she tried on matched the high-fashion vision she had in mind. A lover of couture and editorial style, she wanted something truly special – something that felt like it belonged on the pages of a fashion magazine. One day, while scrolling through Pinterest, she discovered The Hailey gown by Dana Harel. It was everything she’d been dreaming of. The twist? The dress was only available in a handful of boutiques and none of them were in Canada. Undeterred, Sienna and her family planned a visit to see her grandparents in Dallas, Texas, and made a special day trip to Austin just to try it on. The moment she slipped into the gown; it was game over. The Hailey was the one. Even from abroad, Sienna worked seamlessly with Bridaled Austin and the Dana Harel team to have the dress altered to her measurements and customized with delicate straps. When the final gown arrived, it was absolute perfection.

Jordan had a clear vision for his wedding day attire: an off-white dinner jacket with shawl lapels, tailored to perfection. The challenge? Matching the tone to Sienna’s dress—without ever having seen it. Fortunately, a recommendation led him to Lauren at Atelier Suiting, who brought his idea to life with expert precision. Together, they designed a bespoke look that included a sharp off-white jacket, double-pleated high-waisted trousers, and a subtle cuff detail that gave the outfit a classic-meets-contemporary feel. The final look was clean, refined, and perfectly complemented Sienna’s gown. Jordan encourages other grooms to think outside the traditional black tux—“Going with an off-white jacket was bold, but it felt right. It stood out in the best way.”

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.

Sienna didn’t go ring shopping with Jordan, but she definitely dropped hints – think TikTok quizzes and playful “which ring would she choose?” games. It was all in good fun (and Jordan always nailed it!). Her engagement ring features a stunning emerald-cut center stone, and for her wedding band, she chose a unique open-shank design with two horizontal emerald-cut diamonds. A classic with a twist. Jordan took inspiration from one of his favorite shows, The Sopranos, and opted for a custom gold signet-style ring with an off-centre emerald-cut diamond – a nod to Italian style and a subtle match to Sienna’s ring.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).

For us, spending a little extra was all about creating an unforgettable experience for our guests. So, we didn’t hold back on a few special touches – like surprising everyone with a mechanical bull late at night, keeping the open bar flowing and providing easy transportation so no one had to worry about getting home. We wanted everyone to feel relaxed, entertained and taken care of throughout the day. Another top priority was our photographer. We knew the day would fly by, and having someone who could capture not just us, but the joy, laughter and love shared by everyone there, was so important. Great photos mean you can relive those magical moments over and over—long after the party ends.

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?

The most meaningful part of Our Day in May was sharing it with the people we love.  While the day was about celebrating our love, it truly wouldn’t have been possible without the love and support of those around us. From the very beginning, we were hands-on with every detail and made it a priority to include our families wherever we could. Sienna’s mum created the breathtaking florals, Jordan’s mom made our vintage inspired red velvet wedding cake from scratch and Sienna’s dad went the extra mile (literally) by shipping our iconic hot dog cart all the way from Arizona.  The list of personal touches is endless, but what we’ll never forget is the feeling: being surrounded by the people who helped bring the day to life and celebrating together in a way that was entirely us. May 30, 2025, will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
