Meet Bon Elliot

A New Kind of Skin Minimalism

There is something particularly appealing about a skincare brand confident enough to begin with just one beautiful product. Bon Elliot, the new Australian skincare line founded by Sydney dermatologist Dr Bonnie Fergie, has done exactly that, introducing itself with the Hydrating Performance Serum, a considered multitasker that makes a persuasive case for doing more with less.

The idea grew from Dr Fergie’s work with patients whose skin had become increasingly sensitive following years of sun and environmental exposure. Rather than responding with more products and ever more actives, Bon Elliot’s philosophy is one of precision rather than excess. It’s an approach that feels especially relevant now, as many of us look to simplify crowded bathroom shelves without giving up on performance.

And while the science behind the serum is serious, the proposition is pleasingly simple. One beautifully presented formula, used morning or evening, designed to address hydration, luminosity, uneven tone, elasticity and texture.

At its heart is Bon Elliot‘s patent-pending AMBR Complexâ„¢, combining prebiotics, probiotics, biosimilar ceramides and antioxidants. This sits alongside a sophisticated mix of familiar skincare ingredients including niacinamide, multi-weight hyaluronic acid, peptides, hexylresorcinol and AA2G Vitamin C, plus a microalgae-derived bioretinoid alternative. The fragrance-free, non-comedogenic formula has been developed with sensitive skin in mind.

There is substance behind the elegant exterior, too. Bon Elliot commissioned an independent eight-week in vivo clinical trial involving 30 participants. According to the brand, instrumental measurements recorded a 51.1% increase in hydration, a 25.9% increase in luminosity, a 14.3% increase in elasticity and a 10.1% decrease in visible spots. We haven’t independently tested those results, but we appreciate seeing meaningful data behind a new skincare launch.

At $220 AUD for 30ml, Hydrating Performance Serum is undeniably an indulgence. Yet there is something attractive about investing in one hardworking formula rather than continually adding another bottle, another active and another step.

That thinking also feels particularly relevant when preparing skin for a wedding or significant occasion. We’re far more interested in the idea of a calm, consistent routine established well in advance than a frantic pursuit of perfection in the final weeks. Beautiful skin is, after all, a long game.

Bon Elliot may have arrived with just one product, but that restraint is precisely what has caught our attention. Beautifully designed, dermatologist-founded and grounded in a less-but-better philosophy, it’s a very elegant beginning.
