Marrow Fall 2027: A Beautiful Return to Girlhood
Fashion has always had a way of connecting us to who we are, who we were and who we might become. For her Fall 2027 collection, designer Marrow Tang explores this deeply personal relationship through the lens of girlhood, drawing on the innocence, imagination and idealism that remain with us long after childhood. It’s a compelling direction for bridal fashion, one that celebrates the woman behind the dress as much as the occasion itself. Marking both the tenth anniversary of her namesake label and its New York Bridal Fashion Week debut, the collection feels like a particularly meaningful moment for Tang, reflecting on the past while embracing everything still to come.

At the heart of the collection is the Puella Aeterna, a concept drawn from the work of Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. Often translated as the eternal girl, she represents the innocence, idealism and imagination that remain with us into adulthood. Tang’s interpretation is particularly touching. Rather than looking back at girlhood as something we’ve left behind, she invites us to reconnect with that younger part of ourselves and the freedom, curiosity and optimism that came so naturally.

It’s an interesting starting point for bridal fashion, a category so often associated with tradition, expectation and the significance of becoming someone’s wife. Here, the emphasis shifts towards the woman herself, her memories, her imagination and the different versions of herself that have brought her to this moment. There’s something quietly empowering about that perspective, particularly when so many women are approaching their wedding wardrobes with a stronger sense of personal style and individuality.
Founded in Chengdu, China, in 2016, Marrow has developed a design language that draws on vintage references, contemporary fashion and influences from different cultures. Tang has a particular affection for the cinematic, creating gowns that suggest a story beyond the frame. Her approach brings together nostalgia and modern sensibility, with an emphasis on beautiful fabrics, considered tailoring and, importantly, comfort. It’s a combination that feels especially relevant to bridalwear, where how something feels to wear should matter just as much as how it looks.

The Fall 2027 collection comprises 25 pieces, with prices ranging from US$500 to US$6,000. It’s a significant moment for the designer, whose work has steadily gained recognition beyond China. Following her selection for Shanghai International Fashion Week’s bridal programme in 2019, Marrow was recognised by THE WED as one of its next-generation bridal designers in 2025. The label is also now represented by American boutiques including LOHO Bride in Los Angeles and Lady Sycamore in Rhode Island.

Ten years into her label, Tang’s return to the imagination of girlhood feels especially fitting. There is a beautiful contrast between the experience that comes with a decade of designing and the youthful freedom that inspires this collection. Perhaps that’s the most appealing idea here: growing into ourselves doesn’t have to mean leaving the girl we once were behind.
