Ainsley + Logan by Rope and Pulley

We wanted it to be simple & classic.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We are both sports nuts and we play oztag and touch football together (rep scene), go to the gym together, run together, and Logan usually coaches the teams we are both in – so we spend a lot of our lives fitting in these responsibilities. We are lucky to be home 1-2 nights per week.

When we’re not playing sport, you’ll find us at concerts (at least once a month!), fine dining or walking the dogs (we have 2 x border collies and 2 x cats – the real loves of Logan’s life)

Logan is in business, working as Head of Sales for Kip McGrath Education. I have a PhD but now work in industry for a tech start up specialising in sustainable transport.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Logan and I met playing sports, as I (Ainsley) joined the local (social) oztag team he was already playing in. We have now between together for almost 6 years (our wedding day is actually our anniversary). Honestly, we are crazy people who have fit in an insane amount into those 6 years.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

We might be total opposites in personality (everyone would agree), but we absolutely align on the same core values: we are both incredibly hard-working, ambitious, and passionate people. We value loyalty, honesty and following through on commitments. Logan is especially super generous with his time, always coaching, etc, to give others the opportunity to play. We are the sort of people who don’t do things half-ass – as reflected in our crazy lives! Sometimes, I’m not sure how we fit it all in, but we love doing life this way.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Logan proposed during a hot air balloon ride at the Hunter Valley that he’d organised for my 30th birthday. Our initial balloon flight actually got cancelled due to fog, so we had to get up at 4 am and drive there on a Monday morning. After he proposed, we grabbed a quick brekky, raced home, and jumped into respective working meetings without taking any leave. Most of our friends think this is pretty damn reflective of us!

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.

We wanted it to be simple & classic. Honestly, I just trusted Kate from The Blue Bird Collective; she was amazing. As well as Lauren from the faithful florist, those flowers on the arbour were sooooo good. Matt really captured it so well; he has a great eye & made it so fun. We had a pre-wedding meeting with Matt, during which we spoke about our styling a bit, but we focused mainly on how the day would feel. Matt had some great locations in mind for sunset, but we also made sure we had plenty of time with our friends and family.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
