In this Q&A, we explore how their personalized services make each veil as unique as the bride who wears it.
You offer fully custom-colored veils with appliqued designs. Can you walk us through how you collaborate with brides to choose the perfect colors and designs? How do overseas fabric suppliers factor into this process?
The bride lets us know her colour palette so we can search for embroidered flowers according to that. These fabrics are mostly found overseas and hence we touch base with international suppliers to look through their range of appliqued designs.
We collate all the embroidered/appliqued fabrics and showcase them to the bride. She then can pick and choose and finalise which colours she wishes to proceed with. We then order those fabrics and once it arrives, we cut the individual flowers and pin them onto our veil. We will always show the bride the placement first prior to sewing.
Ivory veils don’t always suit champagne-colored gowns, and you’ve mentioned that your pearl glitter veil is a popular alternative. How did you come up with this design, and what makes it the perfect complement to champagne dresses?
The pearl glitter veil was a great fabric find and we use it to make veils. The glitter is gold, which makes the outlook of the ivory veil a more champagne tone. The pearls are always a popular design on veils and this comes on the fabric itself. It’s a popular choice for brides with champagne-coloured wedding dresses.
When a bride chooses her tulle fabric and length from your samples, what does the custom veil-making process look like from start to finish? How long does it typically take, and what kind of input can brides give throughout the process?
Brides usually like our samples the way they are and unless they wish to add embroidery to it they will keep it plain and simple. Our sample veils are 1.8m, 2.5m and 3m in lengths, which give brides a good range to look through and have a feel of which length suits best with their dress train. If they wish to have it longer than 3m we can do that too.
Because we make our veils in-house the lead times are short, unless there is a custom specification added. We can have a plain veil ready in 2 days, if fabric is in-stock.
What advice would you give brides who are thinking of customizing their veil or gown? Are there any trends or design elements you’re seeing more brides gravitate toward lately?
When customising a veil for your dress, make sure it compliments the dress and it’s not an added feature that looks separate from the dress. A veil should be the finishing touch to a bridal look. We’re seeing a lot of trends in having scattered 3D flowers at the ends of the veils. This look is beautiful on a plain wedding dress as the flowers sit on top of the end train.
