Angelina + David by Peppermint Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

David works for himself in the cyber security field as well as running a youtube channel. Angelina works in youth services. David and I are quite similar with so many shared interests, he is my best friend, and we know how lucky we are to have found each other in this world and ‘do’ life together.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We first met in a bar in Brisbane. We couldn’t take our eyes off each other. When we first met, we both had partners though, and let’s just say, this soon changed. When two people are as well matched as David and I are its hard to hold back. We couldn’t resist each other. We were drawn together like magnets.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

Within a few months of meeting each other we found that we shared a lot of common interests and goals for our lives. We consistently work together towards these goals. Over the years that followed, we have only became closer to each other and feel so blessed. We just have so much fun together!

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

David is usually the master of grand gestures; however, the proposal was a surprise at Kangaroo Point cliffs in Brisbane. David proposed after we had finished exercising by running up and down the stairs of the cliff. It was very stressful for him, holding the ring tightly in his pocket so it wouldn’t bounce out. I just burst into tears at the surprise when he asked and I don’t know how long we just stood there hugging and laughing together. It was so funny and unexpected and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…

Our day was very relaxed, but also still very luxurious. We wanted to keep it classical and as minimal/ simple as possible, with white’s, beige and navy blue as the theme. Dinner was absolutely delicious and we just had such a lovely time with our friends and family. It was absolute magic and we wish we could do it all again!

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Our photographer, venue and outfits definitely. Angelina’s wedding dress by Erin Clare and shoes as well as David’s suit and shoes we were so in love with. We wanted to feel comfortable while still very classic and elegant and all things came together for us and were absolutely perfect.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

Planning a wedding during a pandemic wasn’t much of an issue for the most part. In the end, it felt like we just had a party, it was relaxed as we did things at our own pace. The fact that we were already married before the wedding is a bit of a novelty and something we will surely look back on and laugh about. We got married during the pandemic at the registry office, but couldn’t have anyone at the ceremony. This wedding ceremony at Customs House was to bring everyone together to celebrate properly. We were able to connect with family via video throughout the day also which was so lovely.
