ANINA & BENDIKT by We Wedding Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

Something that feels very special about us to us is the fact that since our
early teens, there were about 200 situations during which we could have met.

At parties, via numerous mutual friends or in local hot spots of our mutual home town. However, we still only met when we were 29, after we both had our fair share of experiences and relationships and the chance to grow into our own personalities. When we did meet, it all happened pretty fast. First date, first kiss, moving in… the rest is history.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

Since Anina’s family has history in Italy, it was clear that the journey would take us there. From the get-go, we envisioned the style of a classy garden party. We wanted everything to take place outside. From the ceremony to the reception and dinner – we imagined everyone with sun on their faces and wind in their hair. Our amazing wedding planner Laura found the perfect location – we fell in love the moment we visited the site. It was everything we hoped for: beautiful views, different terraces to allow for different settings throughout the day, an amazing garden and a perfect space for dinner and dance.

As for the decoration and feel of the day, we wanted it to showcase our two personalities, where we are similar, but also where we are different. Anina has a touch of “hippie” in her, and we loved the chandeliers and tiny touches of romance and boho Laura, Alessio and Roberto created. At the same time, we wanted to add a modern an elegant element with minimalistic stationary and other clean design elements. We were enchanted by the magic the team created. They truly got to know us and made the day look and feel like “us”. A lot was sourced locally and all of it with love!

Tell us about your main outfits:

Since we wanted the vibe of a garden party, but still for it to feel festive, we decided to go with a black tie dresscode. This way, everyone would immediately feel like joining a special day from the moment they got dressed – including us. Anina was looking for a rather simple dress with an expensive and detailed feel to it. When trying on the madewithlove dress, that feeling everyone was describing was there – it felt like “her” dress. She later changed into a dress that was tailored by a friend in Berlin to her and Anina’s ideas. It allowed for more movement on the dance floor as the night went on.

Naturally, the dresscode decided Bene’s choice of outfit for him. He had his tuxedo tailored and decided for a dark blue rather than traditional black in a material that allowed surviving some sunrays even during those summer days.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

Of course, as with every 2020 couple, Covid was at the core of our concerns for a large part of the final planning. The closer the day came, our concern turned from Covid to the weather. The weather forecast promised some of the worst storms the area had seen the entire year if not years. As mentioned before, all of our day was supposed to take place outdoors and as much as it was a gamble, with the incredible dedication and flexibility of Laura and the team we stuck to that plan. In some way it was nice since our concerns were taken away from Covid for once, to something that seemed more bearable to us. A little bit of rain, we thought, would not hurt anyone. The night before, hail and thunder (literally) went loose. We could have worried, but by that time decisions were made and it felt out of our hands.
The next morning, just when guests started to gather, the weather changed and the sun came out. It felt like we were being rewarded for our trust, patience and optimism. The weather held up during the whole ceremony and reception. Only a few raindrops came down during the ceremony, which added a beautiful message from mother nature. And of course, Laura was there with clear umbrellas in no time. It felt truly magical.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:

As far as wedding planning goes (and it’s probably applicable to the broader spectrum of life as well): be kind. Kindness goes a long way. And trust people. Trust that everyone is doing their best and also trust that the professionals know what they are doing. At the same time, it’s also important to make your ideas and visions clear and to be open about them but also for other things. It is ok if you want something, even if it doesn’t make sense, but not everything will turn out 100% the way you wanted and planned it and that’s the beauty of it. Approaching things, situations and people with kindness let’s you see that beauty.
