Aslin + Marcus by Angela Maggi

They initially envisioned a charming, romantic celebration in a small Italian chapel.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Aslin and Marcus are two people who believe in following intuition over fixed plans — something life has taught them time and again. They love storytelling, spontaneous adventures, and quiet moments with their dog Aalto. They are both driven and passionate individuals, each with a deep appreciation for connection, laughter, and learning from the unexpected.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

They met seven years ago, and although they told their families they were introduced by mutual friends, the truth is they met on Bumble — a dating app. When Marcus met Aslin, he thought she was dangerously beautiful, unbelievably cool, remarkably intelligent, incredibly driven and very, very talkative. Aslin, on the other hand, thought Marcus was a great listener — which turned out to be the perfect match.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.)

They initially envisioned a charming, romantic celebration in a small Italian chapel — the kind of intimate, timeless space that makes everything feel personal and meaningful. They kept things minimal yet heartfelt, letting the natural beauty of the setting and the honesty of their story set the tone. In the end, they didn’t just find a small Italian chapel — they found an even smaller one, and it was perfect. The entire reception took place at Casanguilla, a hidden gem nestled in the Apulian countryside. With its soulful character, warm simplicity, and effortlessly beautiful atmosphere, it felt more like home than a venue. Casanguilla embraced their vision and elevated it — offering the kind of authenticity that can’t be staged. It was the perfect backdrop to something that already felt deeply personal.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you?

The understated intimacy of their location was one of the most powerful visual elements. The rustic charm of the chapel and the surrounding countryside became the backdrop for everything — no heavy styling required. Every detail felt authentic to them: simple florals, soft lighting, and letting nature play a starring role.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

What they enjoyed most was embracing the unexpected and letting go of rigid expectations. They learned early on that sometimes the best outcomes come from plans that shift — and that’s okay. Their advice to other couples: have a vision, but don’t be afraid to go off-script. Lean into what feels right, not just what looks right.

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?

We were incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a team of truly exceptional professionals who each brought something special to our day. Our photographer, Angela Maggi (@angela_maggi_photo), captured everything with a sensitivity and honesty that went beyond what we could have hoped for. Her ability to read a moment, quietly observe, and catch emotion without ever disrupting the flow was a gift. Our wedding planner, Alessandra Ricci, was the calm in the centre of the storm. She understood us instantly, and every detail she touched reflected our personalities. She made things not only beautiful, but meaningful. The food by La Spasa di Luisa was unforgettable — warm, generous, deeply rooted in Italian tradition but full of heart. Our guests still talk about it. And our celebrant, Adriana Arcadio, gave us the most heartfelt, intimate ceremony we could’ve imagined. Her words grounded us, and gave so much emotional weight to the moment. It was personal, sincere, and truly unforgettable.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?

My main outfit was from The Row, a choice that felt timeless, elegant and effortlessly me. I didn’t want anything overly complicated —just something that let me feel comfortable and confident, with clean lines and an understated silhouette. I wore two pairs of shoes: one from Alaïa that gave a sculptural edge to the look, and another pair from The Row for later in the evening when comfort started to win. I didn’t have a makeup artist — my sister and I did it together, which made that part of the day incredibly personal and relaxed. I wore Chanel fragrance, something familiar and comforting that I associate with special occasions. Marcus kept things minimal — his outfit, shoes, and accessories were all about simplicity and feeling true to himself. He wore 34 boulevard saint germain as his fragrance, a warm and earthy scent that suited the setting perfectly.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on?

Photography was absolutely a top priority for us — we knew we’d want to relive the day again and again, and Angela gave us exactly that through her lens. The food was equally important. We wanted the celebration to feel like a big, loving Italian meal — not just a dinner, but an experience that brought everyone together. In both cases, investing more was worth every cent.

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?

One of the most memorable moments was simply standing together in the tiniest of chapels, exchanging vows in a setting that was unintentionally even more intimate than planned. It was a reminder that while many things hadn’t gone exactly according to plan, the most important one had: building a life together.
