Bryce + Brittany by Nikki Deles

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship?

Bryce and I have been together 6 years, We surprisingly fell pregnant when I was just 20 years old, not exactly ideal but it was most certainly the making of our relationship.

To some people having babies before marriage is a bit backwards, but for me, even though it wasn’t planned that way, I think being able to have our little girl be a part of our day and share that moment with her was so special. I myself, am lucky enough to have the luxury of being a full time stay at home mum with our little girl Blake, I’m very grateful to be able to make the most of these very important and special years with our baby girl. Bryce works full time as refractory brick layer at the Whyalla steelworks in South Australia, where we have recently relocated our lives for a few years.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style?

Our venue alone already held so much character I really drew a lot of inspiration from that. I wanted to just keep it minimal but still beautiful and bright. Throughout our engagement I collected certain pieces from oppshops for styling, for our table settings I collected things such as brass gold vases, candle holders and mismatched glass vases which were set out on the table with a variation of bright, bold flowers. Our beautiful cane plates, glass water bottles were also bought second hand and our napkins and cutlery were biodegradable.

One of biggest driving forces behind the way a did things was sustainability. If we weren’t sourcing it second hand we were making it by hand, from the arch way to the wedding signs to the hanging centre piece above the bridal table were all made by us, I had such a specific vision in my head the OCD in me really kicked in and I wanted to do it all myself. Bryce, myself and our amazing bridal party plus a few family members set up everything the day before the wedding. Although it probably caused me more stress doing it this way, once I saw my vision come to life even better than what I had imagined, it was all worth it.

Tell us about your main outfits?

For my dress I really wanted something simple, minimalistic and timeless. A piece i was going to love forever, not look back on in 15 years and think “what on earth was I thinking” haha. Having such a minimalistic dress I really wanted a statement piece, and that was my starry veil. Hayes bridal nailed it! It was such a timeless dress with beautiful stand out points of difference being the sleeves and the starry veil, which really gave it the perfect balance between timeless and modern. Bryce chose a deep navy suit from barkers with a white shirt, brown belt and brown boots. We wanted to keep his looks simple formal/casual because we felt it really suited our setting.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Bryce and I wrote our own vows, it was a really special moment standing at the alter in front of our closest family and friends hearing each others vows and promises to one another for the rest of our lives, for the very first time. The whole day was so memorable, being able to share such a special milestone in our relationship with all of our favourite people. We really soaked up every single minute of the best day of our lives, I wish we could relive the whole day over and over.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

COMMUNICATION is an absolute must in any relationship, not just to be able to communicate but also really be able to listen to one another. Don’t sweat the small stuff, have fun with one another, laugh with one another, go on regular dates with eachother, drink too much with eachother. Cherish every moment you’re lucky enough to spend together.
