Daisy & Sam by Smith + Archer

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We met through Daisy’s older brother, Dylan, 6 years ago and we’ve been together ever since.

There was an instant spark between us and it didn’t take long before we knew it was love! Moving into our new home we built 3 weeks before the wedding made it all more exciting, we can’t wait for what the future holds as Mr& Mrs GOLDEN!!!

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Our day was perfect, we wanted a relaxed boho garden party so that was our theme! After chatting to our photographer Ali (Smith + Archer), we chose to do a first look so we could spend more time at our reception and enjoy the night with our friends and family. Doing a first look and having that time together before the wedding relaxed the nerves a lot also, we got to have some fun with our bridal party before the wedding had even began. Our ceremony was held underneath a beautiful big oak tree at the back of our venue at Mount Macedon, a beautiful town an hour from Melbourne Australia. It was so lovely to look up during the ceremony and see everyone under the tree watching us. Our macrame arch from Earth Art was a gorgeous feature of the ceremony and the florals by As Daisy Does were absolutely stunning. Once the ceremony was finished we just wanted to party with our friends and family so the only formalities that we had were speeches and the rest of the time was spent enjoying our party. Our musician Romisound is based in New South Wales, so flew in for our wedding. He set the vibe for the party and everyone was dancing all night, it was amazing and exactly what we wanted to happen!

Tell us about your main outfits:

Daisy; Having had my eyes on a few Spell dresses it was a great excuse to take a trip to Byron with my mum and sister in law, we made dress shopping stretch out over 5 days in Byron. After trying more formal dresses on I knew straight away i wanted a more relaxed look something comfy and not over the top. We found two Spell dresses which were two totally different looks. After buying one on sale for only $500 we thought hey why not buy both and wear two dresses … so I did! Spell bridal have the most amazing relaxed boho dresses and are very affordable. My coin veil by Rue de Sein just completed my bridal look perfectly.

Sam; We wanted earthy tones and nothing too formal.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

All the speeches were amazing they had everyone laughing and crying! Also, we really enjoyed the first look, it was special to have time just to ourselves and had the added bonus of easing the nerves AND gave us more time at our party!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

The day goes so quickly and it’s hard to remember everything as its full of nerves excitement & super emotional, the most important thing for us was finding a great photographer that could capture every moment. Seeing our photos brought back all the memories and is something we’ll have forever to look back on. I can not wait to have some photos printed and hanging on the walls in our new house (alongside our custom “GOLDEN” neon!) For us, we felt that a photographer was more important than a videographer. Ali went above and beyond to make sure our day was capture perfectly. She is truly amazing!
