GERANIUM & GREEN LEAVES IN COLLABORATION WITH JARDINE HANSEN FROM JARDINE BOTANIC, TASMANIA
As a little girl, Jardine Hansen — ‘Garden’ to her close friends — was enraptured by her grandmother’s rambling garden, with its curious and unpronounceable botanical names.
Although her parents were florists, Hansen originally studied exercise, sports science and nutrition, but switched to floral design when a workmate did. She soon found she adored it, although from the beginning, her approach was unorthodox.
Hansen’s work is loose and slightly wild, instinctual and romantic, often striving to capture the shape of natural growth, whether it’s the intensity of Australia’s terrain or the casual sprawl of a private garden. She often uses botanicals, locally-grown varieties and foraged materials, scented flowers and foliage with interesting, touchable textures.
Working from studios in Hunters Hill, Sydney, and Longley, Tasmania, and with a large and avid Instagram following, Hansen has designed arrangements and installations for events and shoots, private and corporate clients for years. Now, she’s added a signature fragrance to the mix.
“I’ve always been mesmerized by the mysterious alchemy of perfume,” she says. “The way certain notes can be strung together to evoke a feeling or a memory is fascinating. My desire was to create a fragrance reminiscent of my time spent exploring beautiful cold- climate gardens.”
Hansen’s earthy, sophisticated fragrance has bergamot top notes opening to a heart of green leaves, sweet amber and geranium, with an oriental base of vanilla, oud and patchouli.
