Grace + Alex by Taylor & Porter

We grew up together in our 20s, making incredible memories and having fun together, so I guess it just happened over time.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met during our first year at university, at Trinity College Dublin… during fresher’s week! We had a lot of fun during.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

A: I’m not sure there was one moment, actually. We grew up together in our 20s, making incredible memories and having fun together, so I guess it just happened over time.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

A:  It was at the end of a very wet & windy beach walk in Cornwall, at a place where my family have always holidayed and in recent years where Grace & I have spent a lot of time. It was an incredibly special day. We went for a big lunch, then came back and called all of our family and friends to tell them the good news.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.

Dublin is a very special place for us – it’s where we met and where some of our favourite memories were made. We wanted everyone to experience Dublin and celebrate with us. The time of year and setting played into the style of our wedding – autumnal colours and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere – we just wanted everyone to have fun!

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Music – we had been to a couple of parties in the UK where our band played, and the dance floor was always full! We brought them over to Dublin for the night, and it was the best decision, we didn’t leave the dance floor!

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

G: As a Kiwi who spent many years in London, Emilia Wickstead was who I’d dreamed of making my dress. I love her classic, elegant styles, so she was really the only designer I considered!
