When I saw Hannah waiting at the door, I was so nervous when I saw her, I ran off and told my friends the girl of my dreams is here. This didn’t look good, as Hannah thought I wasn’t interested and ran away. But of course, I came straight back, and we danced the night away.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
HR – I have been a nurse for 9.5 years and more recently started some casual work at our wedding florist Floral Army to tap into my creative side. I love art, drawing and creating! I love spending my spare time in the sunshine with my family, niece and nephews and our dog Davey.
MR – I recently started a position in facilities management for Scentre group and really enjoying it. I have a passion for aviation, I’m currently building an aircraft with my father and fly quite often. I absolutely love the ocean and spending time with family and friends.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
HR – I first saw Michael on tinder. I spent a lot of time debating over which way to swipe but his shaggy hair and lack of clear photos left me swiping no. A month later and he was back with a new hair do and some really, really good pics! We met up a few nights later and it was love at first sight for me. We spent the night drinking espresso martinis and dancing the night away and the rest is history. He was different to any other guy I had met; warm, gentle, polite and easy going and always sees the best in everyone.
MR – As Hannah said we met on tinder and decided to organise to catch up on her birthday. When I saw Hannah waiting at the door, I was so nervous when I saw her, I ran off and told my friends the girl of my dreams is here. This didn’t look good, as Hannah thought I wasn’t interested and ran away. But of course, I came straight back, and we danced the night away. Hannah is so beautiful, caring and my best friend.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
HR – After only a short time of dating Michael decided to join me and my two girlfriends on a camping trip down south. We were so unprepared and so thankful for him and all his camping gear. It was here that I took the leap and invited him to my family holiday overseas coming up so soon. He didn’t even have to think twice about it. And it was then that I knew we were together for the long run.
MR – I think when I realised, I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Hannah is when I went on her family holiday in Bali after only being together for 3 months. Hannah and I got on so well the whole time and her family was so welcoming.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
HR&MR – Michael popped the question on another family holiday in Exmouth. I had a very strong feeling that this was going to happen. He had also planned a day to go check out some secluded beaches at sunset, and he never makes plans in advance. When the day came I made sure to change my clothes, put on makeup, and take the tape off holding my broken pinky finger to my ring finger. I was ready. And thankfully my gut feeling was right. Mike proposed at the most beautiful secluded beach at sunset, we came home to all the family congratulating us with a surprise dinner and drinks. The next day Mike had organised a scenic flight for us over the beautiful Exmouth beaches. It was perfect!
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
HR&MR – Many little things that just made it our day. Ed the cardboard cutout groomsman (He couldn’t make it from Dubai) was left behind in the car and the driver had to race him back, the wrong song was played for our entrance as husband and wife, I couldn’t go to the bathroom without removing my whole dress, and maybe a few guests enjoying the cocktails a bit too much!
