Katharina + Jared by Days Made of Love

We met on set shooting a commercial. Jared is a filmmaker and director, and I work in front of the camera as an actress and model. We both love nature and fell for each other when I went to see one of Jared’s environment-themed movies.

We met on set shooting a commercial. Jared is a filmmaker and director, and I work in front of the camera as an actress and model. We both love nature and fell for each other when I went to see one of Jared’s environment-themed movies. Our engagement was really special. Jared got down on one knee on a farm following the Women’s March in New York. We kept the proposal secret for a little while so we could relish the magic moment.

We had our hearts set on getting married on the beautiful island of Sifnos, in Greece, as Jared’s mother is Greek. It really is a jewel in the ocean only accessible by boat. Sifnos is renowned for its incredible cuisine, rugged landscape and sapphire waters.

We kept things simple with a focus on good music, great food and flowing drinks. Our guests even helped with entertainment and our dear friends, Lara Gregl and Reed Perkins, officiated the ceremony. Seeing our loved ones from around the world come together and bond so quickly was really special, as Jared and I love playing host. By the time the festivities were over, many of our guests were crying, moved by all the wonderful friendships they had made. Three days felt like a whole week, as our friends and family made our wedding the most memorable time of our lives.

Looking back, we wouldn’t change a single thing! Italian-French designer, Paolo Corona, helped me to create a wedding dress which paid homage to Grecian culture. Crafted from recycled fabric with delicate hand-stitched details, the two-part piece married contemporary style and femininity. In keeping with a desire to be sustainable, my ring was made from recycled silver with a morganite stone at the centre. My make-up was done by my very talented long- time friend and artist Julie Nozieres, who I met on set in Paris. As for Jared, he looked seriously dapper in a smart Hugo Boss tuxedo.

On our big day, the buses booked to carry our guests from the ceremony to the reception were late, but when you’re in a small Greek town in the sunshine, it’s very hard to complain. Our guests were more than happy enjoying each other’s company and the small delay didn’t spoil the fun. In the run-up to the ceremony, Jared and I prepared some nostalgic videos of us growing up to keep guests entertained. We even took tango lessons so that we could surprise our loved ones with a little dance on the night, which went down an absolute treat! We found that preparing the wedding well in advance allowed us time to enjoy every little moment of the celebration without worrying.
