Lauren + Michael by Jimmy Raper Wedding Photographer

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

We met at work and were good friends for years before anything romantic eventuated. Michael still laughs that the first memory he has of me involves me yelling at him from the reception desk at work because we couldn’t agree on the air conditioning temperature; a common workplace dispute that highlighted to each other our individual stubborness from early days.

After a night out in Sydney bonding over our mutual love of pasta and one too many glasses of wine, we finally kissed and have been inseparable ever since.  Since our wedding we have moved into our forever home and are currently in the midst of renovations.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

From the beginning we both knew we wanted a destination wedding. We loved the idea of a weekend away celebrating with our family & friends. Wallalong House provided just this!

We both wanted to incorporate elements important to our families whilst making sure the day was relaxed and fun for everyone. With such a stunning outdoor venue we wanted to take full advantage of our surroundings. We had mojitos, lawn games and a cheese wheel pasta after our ceremony ensuring the guests spent as much time outdoors enjoying the sunset as possible.

Styling was elegant but simple with tones of blush, nude, white, peach & elements of gold. The long tables were filled with florals (both fresh & dried), blush toned menus and many candles.

One of our favourite details were our bombonieres – Bottles of Limoncello homemade my our grandparents on both sides. We passed around extra during speeches so that we could toast to our grandparents  both past and present.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Lauren: I wore a dress and veil made my Christie Nicole Bridal – it was literally all of my favourite elements of dresses I had tried on put into one. It had removable tulle sleeves with incredibly detailed cuffs. My accessories were quiet simple  – I wore pearl drop earrings from Amelie George Bridal and pinned my nan’s pearl brooch at the top of my veil. For the reception I removed my sleeves and changed into white sneakers to get the party started.

Michael: I wore a black tie suit from the Bespoke Corner Tailors. Having always wanted a tailored suit this was the perfect oppurtunity. It was made even more special as I went through the process with my dad, getting him a suit made for the wedding too. I couldn’t be happier with the final result.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

We both agree that our ceremony was our most memorable part of the day. From walking down the aisle to a live acoustic version of our favourite song to saying our own written vowels to one another – there was just so much love & happiness during the ceremony.

Our loved ones speeches!! We can’t wait to get our wedding video back to watch them over and over again. We also loved our dance floor! Instead of cutting a cake we had a champgne tower to kick start our dance floor and the incredible band from The White Tree made sure our guests never left!! You usually will find us singing and dancing to live music at the end of the night so this was the perfect was to end our day! It was so much fun!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:

In terms of wedding day advice – take a moment just the two of you at some point in the night. Stand back from the wedding and look out at all your guests there celebrating you! It really is the most beautiful and surreal feeling knowing how much love is in that room.

For life – even on the not so great days, try to always remember how lucky you are to spend your life with your best friend.
