With a background in photographing across cultures and locations worldwide, Lena brings a calm, observational presence that allows each story to unfold with honesty and ease. In this Q&A, she shares her perspective on creative storytelling, the energy that inspires her most, and what continues to draw her to weddings around the world.
What first drew you to destination weddings as a space for storytelling?
I’ve always been fascinated by the beauty of different cultures and the feeling of being somewhere new. Destination weddings add a unique depth to storytelling. Every place carries its own light, energy and rhythm. For me, it is about capturing not just a wedding, but an entire experience that feels immersive, emotional and truly one of a kind.

How would you describe your visual style to couples discovering your work for the first time?
Timeless, emotional and effortlessly refined. My work is intentional yet natural, never overly posed, but always considered. I aim to create imagery that feels elevated and artistic while remaining deeply honest and full of life.
How does being in a new place influence the way you see and capture a wedding day?
Being somewhere new allows me to slow down and see with fresh eyes. I become more aware of light, movement and atmosphere, which leads to imagery that feels deeply connected to that specific moment and place. It ensures each wedding feels distinct and personal.

What moments or details do you instinctively look for when documenting a celebration?
I am drawn to the in between moments, quiet emotions, subtle gestures and genuine connection. At the same time, I pay close attention to the overall aesthetic and details so the story feels cohesive, intentional and complete.
What is something about your approach that couples do not always expect at first?
My calm and unobtrusive presence. I blend into the day rather than directing it, which allows moments to unfold naturally while still being captured with intention and care.

What makes a wedding feel truly unforgettable to you beyond the setting itself?
It is the emotion and the energy between people. The most unforgettable weddings are those where couples are fully present, where every moment feels genuine and deeply felt. Those are the stories that stay with you.
What kind of energy or atmosphere on a wedding day makes you feel most inspired?
A relaxed and trusting atmosphere inspires me most. When couples are fully present and trust my process, it creates space for something truly special, imagery that feels natural, elevated and full of emotion.

What is one unexpected moment you always hope to capture when you are shooting abroad?
I love the unscripted moments that cannot be planned, when a place, its people and the celebration naturally intertwine. Those fleeting interactions often become the most meaningful images.
What destinations or types of celebrations are you hoping to photograph more of in the coming years?
I am especially drawn to refined destination weddings in character filled locations, coastal settings, intimate villas and multi day celebrations where there is time to fully immerse in the story.

If your photography had a feeling or a mood, how would you describe it?
Elegant, emotional and quietly captivating. My work is about creating images that do not just look beautiful, but truly make you feel something, timeless photographs that couples connect with for a lifetime.
