Marie + Quentin by Camille Huguenot

The beauty and services of La Bastide de Marie

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We are Parisians, 31 and 36 years old, and we love: gastronomy, beautiful places like La Bastide de Marie, travelling, massages, walking together and discussing everything. Spending time at home in the place we have made our own, our “nest”. We love sharing, discussing, learning, reading and laughing together.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Quentin and I met 5 years ago through mutual friends during a week’s holiday in the mountains. We quickly realised that this relationship would be serious. We soon wanted to spend a lot of time together and move in together.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

We absolutely loved planning our wedding! We took our time to do it, thinking about the details that would make us truly happy and that would appeal to our guests, family and close friends over these 3 days.

We spent a lot of time with our witnesses during the year of preparation and created precious moments for ourselves. If we had one piece of advice to give, it would be: take your time, listen to each other and do things for yourself because it’s YOUR day.

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?

We used almost exclusively local service providers, who delivered incredible quality services! Without them, it would not have been the same.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?

I loved my wedding dress, which was a custom-made creation and therefore unique. I knew exactly how I wanted to get married and what I wanted to look like. I loved co-creating this dress with my seamstress. I felt myself, free to move around in a dress that belonged only to me and was inspired by the 1930s, which I love.

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.

My engagement ring and our wedding rings were made by the same craftsman, and we love them very much.

I loved the engagement ring that my husband had made and wore on the day he proposed to me in Scotland. I wanted an Emerald-cut diamond with baguette diamonds. In my opinion, it is timeless, it suits me well, and I still look at it every day!

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).

The photographer, our outfits and the venue.

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?

It’s difficult to choose, there are too many:

  • The first look before leaving for the church, where we discovered each other
  • The groom’s speech
  • The last evening in this magical hotel, just the two of us
  • Our entrance into the church

What does being married mean to you, and are there any special rituals you have that you would like to share?

Being married doesn’t change our daily lives; it seals something sacred, a promise we have made to each other. The promise to choose each other every day for the rest of our lives. To have found “the one” with whom to share happiness and misfortune. To have found “the one” with whom to share joys and sorrows and feel supported, loved, accompanied, and understood. To have a safe place.
