We wanted our day to be unique, authentic, romantic and intimate.
NICOLE —— Will’s grandfather moved from Spain to Puerto Rico, which is why we chose Barcelona for our wedding destination. I’m a first-generation American from Russia. Will works in investment research sales and I’m in marketing but am currently building my wedding content creator business. We met when we were in college and were introduced by his sister, who was in my sorority. From that first day, both of us just knew that we’d spend eternity together. I’ve never believed in the saying “when you know, you know” but something about Will felt like home from the second I met him.
Will proposed on the rooftop of our old apartment building. He told me we had a dinner reservation that night and helped me pick out my outfit. We went up to the roof of our building for cocktails as usual, but when he opened the door, I saw the entire floor covered in rose petals (that my mother helped hand pick) and a sign saying “Marry Me”.
Because we were getting married abroad, we wanted our day to be unique, authentic, romantic and intimate. We told our planner we wanted our wedding to be a night filled with tears, laughter and lots of dancing. We always knew we wanted to splurge on a photographer and videographer because that would ultimately be what we have from our wedding for the rest of our lives. We now have such special moments to look back on and share with generations to come.
The morning of the wedding, a random individual showed up at the door saying he was there to do my hair. I was confused because I had met my hair stylist at the rehearsal dinner the night before. I soon learned that the stylist had had an accident and wasn’t able to make it.
I had quite the dilemma with my wedding gown! I had a custom gown created by Berta which ended up being a complete disaster. When my gown arrived, after a year in production, it simply did not fit the way it was supposed to. I ended up having to hop on a two-hour Zoom call where all of my measurements were retaken (with Will’s assistance) and send my gown back for new sleeves to be created in Israel. I flew out to NYC two weeks before the wedding to try on the new sleeves and my dress was delivered the day before we left for Spain! There were moments where I was not sure if I would even have a dress, and was prepared to purchase something off the rack in Spain. However, everything ended up working out.
