After 2 weeks I knew I was in trouble. I realised that I was in love with him, he also told me he wanted to marry me and have kids with him.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
I am originally from Finland. Mark is a developer, I am a project manager for him. We’ve both been married before. Mark has 3 teenage kids and we have 2 beautiful boys, Johannes and Juju together. We love good food, cooking, travelling, long walks and spending time with our family of 5.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We met at Port Sea Polo, our first chat was about healthy eating, I was not eating sugar at the time and Mark was trialling no carbs. I won’t tell you my first impression but I did think he was very handsome and we had similar interests.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
No proposal. It was gradual. Got the ring first, then he got it set, which led to the conversation, and then he told his kids in 2020 that we would get married in 2022. He knew his kids needed time to get around it.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
Colourful and not too traditional. Because we’ve both been married before, we just wanted a fun party where everyone had a good time that didn’t feel too serious. Mark needed some convincing when I showed him the bright red and pink invitations and flowers, he said “What?! I thought it would be all white?” I told him but that’s what we had in our previous weddings. We wanted it to be about good music, dancing and throwing a party that everyone will remember.
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
DJ Entertainment, and food and drinks
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
I wanted a short or non-white dress since I’d already done the long white one already. Mark loves my long legs so I wanted to show them off. I actually tried a different one at Rachel Gilbert first but it didn’t flatter my body at all. Eventually, I saw one hanging, tried it on and it was perfect! For Mark I saw a picture online of hightops and said to him, you don’t have to go traditional, you can even wear sneakers and so Mark wore sneakers.
