Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
Andrew and I now live in Hong Kong together after meeting serendipitously while I was living in London and he was there for work momentarily.
We had a long distance relationship for nearly a year before we got engaged and made plans for me to join him in Hong Kong. We love travelling together and with our friends from around the world.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
The theme was based around the venue – so rustic chic. All of the outfits were different shades of blue that worked well together and the flowers were mostly white to give the wedding feeling even though there wouldn’t be a white dress. Some elements of blue came into the floral design to compliment the garments.
Tell us about your main outfits:
Our suits were custom made for us by a local tailor based on the cuts that would suit our body shapes and the fabrics that spoke to us the most. We wanted everyone’s outfits to fit together, but not to feel like it was all the same colour. While we went into our first session with the tailor thinking we would chose light grey suits, the blue fabrics spoke to us and we styled the rest of the wedding party around them.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
The most memorable moments from the day were being on the beach at sunset taking what we knew would be gorgeous pictures, while trying not to let the strong winds destroy our hair. We also loved having so many friends and family from around the world in attendance and planned a full weekend of events to ensure everyone had time to meet some new faces – this worked great and some lifelong friendships were formed.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
Our advice would be that when you know, you know. And don’t let being half a world apart stop you.
