Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
5 years ago, Henrik and I first met during high school in Sweden at only 16 years of age. Three years later, after Henrik proposed to me at a beautiful spa in Stockholm, we wanted to travel, see and experience a different part of the world. We moved to Australia with absolutely no clue where we would end up.
After a few weeks on the road we ended up in Sydney and fell in love with the city. Long story short: after one year in Sydney, we moved back to Sweden for 8 months to plan and have our wedding closer to our families. In October 2017 we permanently moved back to Sydney. Most of our days are spent at the beach, we LOVE to explore new places and go on adventures, travel, eat Messina and “Netflix and chill”. We are each other’s best friends. We always have so much fun together and our love just seems to grow stronger each day.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
We decided to have our wedding overseas after numerous failed attempts to book a venue in Sweden. Looking back, we are so thankful that nothing worked out in Sweden. We were looking for a garden wedding with a view and Henrik found the place after I had given up to find a venue in Sweden. Just 7 months before wedding Henrik stumbled upon this amazing venue along the Amalfi coast in Italy and I absolutely fell in love with the place! We instantly booked the venue. We spent the week before the wedding exploring the Amalfi Coast for the first time, while also visiting the venue and finalising the details for our special day.
We wanted a very intimate wedding hence why we only invited our closest family, about 20 people. The view and the garden were astonishing so we chose to only decorate it with flower petals, some white flowy fabric hanging from the olive trees and tall flower vases with white/light pink David Austin roses and hydrangeas.
Our day ended up being better than we could have ever imagined. We are so thankful that our families could travel from Sweden to Italy for our wedding and be there with us on our special day.
The fact that we were SO LUCKY to have Van Middleton and Michael Kelly (photographer and filmmaker) there to capture our day, was amazing and we’re so grateful.
Tell us about your main outfits:
I had absolutely no idea what style I wanted so I went to several bridal boutiques in Sydney to try on different styles. After a few fittings, I knew that I wanted something with 3D flowers and a tulle skirt. A designer called Lisa Gowing had a dress that I really wanted to try on, and after we made a few adjustments, I completely fell in love with the dress!
Henrik wanted a fitted black suit and of course, he only needed one hour to find it. While I had spent several weeks….
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
Talking about this, we both felt like the moment when I walked down the aisle with my dad, seeing Henrik so emotional, was so special and beautiful. Additionally, Henrik’s sister sang a song during the ceremony that didn’t leave a dry eye. Just getting to celebrate our love with our families was such a great joy.
