Rosalie + Connor by Annabelle Agnew

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Rosalie is a PhD student in Epidemiology and Connor is a professional show jumper/horse trainer. We are adventurous, animal-loving, free-spirited, good-time seeking type of people!

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Connor is from Donegal, Ireland and Rosalie is from Québec, Canada and our love for horses brought us together on a small farm in Ontario, almost 7 years ago.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

We are both always on the move! But being raised by the ocean, Connor is always seeking for a body of water, no matter where he is in the world! Shortly after we met, Connor picked a beach on a map and off we went on a romantic date. This is where we exchanged our first “I love you’s”.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it… 5 years later, Connor found the exact spot on the shores of Lake Huron, and proposed alongside our two dogs, Bosty and Rupert.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…We had gone to L’Île-Verte, a small island off the coast of Québec, in 2016 for a family gathering and had fallen in love with the place. The ruggedness and salty air reminded us of the west coast of Ireland and so it felt like it connected to both our roots. Our vision for the wedding was to let the island talk for itself.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story? We wanted to keep it simple and timeless. Connor wanted paddy caps and tweed, despite his good friend’s concern of it being a wee bit warm. Rosalie fell in love with the simplicity and elegance of her dress, and bought it without even trying it on!

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)? The day before the wedding, Connor and his best man Luke went on a quest to find driftwood to use as our aisle for the ceremony. A little miscommunication upon dropping the log resulted in a few stitches and an afternoon at the nurse’s office! Thankfully, Luke was ready for action the next day and had some laughs and drinks about it after!

What was one element you were happy to splurge on? Our amazing photographer Annabelle! It was important for us to find someone who would understand our vision and give justice to the views and the lighthouse.
