Sam + Brandon by Samantha Simone

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Samantha is a Primary School teacher and has a passion for teaching the Early Years. She has many interests including fitness and fashion. Brandon has played AFL for over 10 years, post career Brandon has started his own indigenous business. Brandon has a passion for all sports and has a love for horses.

Both Samantha and Brandon love to spend most of their time with their friends and families and most importantly their dog Pablo!

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Brandon and Samantha went to the same high school, although they both knew each other and would have been to many of the same events and have many mutual friends over the years, neither of them had much interaction until later after school until they began to date. Brandon likes to blame this on the fact Samantha ignoring him, but Samantha likes to suggest it was the other way around. Samantha and Brandon began there love story when Brandon moved back home to Perth, whilst both out in Scarborough for a few drinks. After sharing some Tequila and Guacomole, Brandon said to Samantha did she know she had two identenical freckles on each side of nose. Samantha acknowledged no one had ever noticed this before. The two decided to get dinner during the week and the rest was history.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

SM – I realised that Brandon was the person I wanted to spend my life with, when we had a falling out and spent sometime a part. The pair of us learnt the saying ‘you don’t know what you have until its gone’ was very true. The pair of us were soon magnets back to each other as we knew we didn’t want anything else but each other.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Brandon and Samantha decided they wanted to get married together in a conversation as we were ready to start thinking about having kids. Brandon took Samantha to design her ring. Samantha wasn’t sure when the ring was going to be picked up. But one Sunday we went to have a look at some display homes near the house we are building. Brandon insisted on bringing the dog, Samantha was not happy about bringing the dog to the display house. Infact we were bickering in the car about it. After leaving the display home Samantha walked off to the block with the dog. As she turned around on the block, Brandon was kneeling, ring in hand.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…

We wanted a very relaxed vibe wedding, but still looking beautiful. Matthew Landers liked to call this Causal Luxury and that’s the vibe we went for. Being at the Shorehouse Venue, the beach and venue already set a beautful scene and vibe, we drew on the colours from the Shorehouse to add colours like Toffee and Nudes. The rest of the mood just fell into place when we had the colour palate of the flowers and stationary.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Samantha was going to splurge on the dress, You only get one a lifetime so I wanted it to be the most perfect! But other than that we really wanted to put on a rememberable party! We wanted cocktails, spirits and amazing canapés and oysters! We wanted our guests to have the most amazing time.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

Brandon got his suit taylored made, it was finished beautifully with his initials embroded in inside the blazer. Samantha loved the journey of her dress being made. Each step of watching the dress form was amazing. She couldn’t decided if she liked the dress with sleeves or strapless. This led Pallas to creating a removable shrug with arm bands. This gave the dress a beautiful look for the ceremony and the shrug and veil were then removed for the reception for a less formal vibe without changing the dress.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

Brandon’s and few guests from the wedding race horse was racing at 4pm. With a Ceremony at 3pm, and the horse being a favourite to win in a pretty big race. The boys pretending they weren’t  watching their watches towards the end of the ceremony. It was always a laugh exiting the Church just in time for the race to start and everyone lifting out their phones with a roar to watch the race.
