SLOW unveils new Auckland showroom

SLOW design showroom Auckland New Zealand

Cult design store SLOW has launched a sparkly new showroom at 10 Ponsonby Road, Auckland.

Renowned for its marriage of Danish style, form and sustainability; the premium label has earned its name as New Zealand’s go-to destination for designer furniture and homewares. Led by founder Martina Blanchard, the business continues to pioneer the slow movement with each product crafted with love, ethics and care.

“My passion is to create environments that people would feel comfortable to live in, to spend time in and are welcomed into – I feel there is often an imbalance between how we design our space and how we actually live or work in such space,” Martina says.

“The SLOW approach to styling takes into consideration the latter as well as understanding that in today’s fast pace change of trends, it is essential to choose items that will last over time, both in the visual expression, but also in the choice of materials and colours. Therefore, I always choose products that are produced in the best possible way, that will age beautifully over time, and avoid trends that you will get tired of in a short time.”

Longtime followers of the brand will be pleased to learn that the Auckland space will carry all of SLOW’s hero brands: FRAMA, New Works and Ferm Living. What’s even more exciting is that they will be joined by emerging designers such as Byron Bay furniture brand Sarah Ellison. The exclusive stock will boast Ellison’s most coveted pieces such as the Huggy chair and curvy Muse modular – both inspired by her love of ’70s interior design.

“I have been following the SLOW journey for a number of years and am delighted to showcase for the first time in New Zealand alongside such a phenomenal collection of creative designers,” says Sarah. “Together, Martina and I have selected pieces from my Golden and SOL collections that we feel will resonate well with the New Zealand consumer.”

“For us, pre-owned design means sustainability, authenticity, great style and craftsmanship. Vintage styles are not only unique and rare; they endorse personalised experimentation that results in the emergence of a personable and distinctively timeless design aesthetic. Choosing vintage, we are not only recycling but also getting our hands-on furniture that showcases graceful patina and evokes nostalgia,” says Martina.

Other brands to look forward to include Nuura, Fogia, Louise Roe CPH, Globen, Louise Roe, Byon, Deiji Studio and Marloe Marloe.

SLOW will open on August 31, 2021 at 10 Ponsonby Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1011
