Sofia + Pablo by Caleidoscopia

Somehow, we ended up getting along great, and a few months later, he invited me to dinner… it was our first date.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Pablo and I know each other through his sister Marta, who is also one of my closest friends. After living in London for 6 years, he had just moved to Madrid, and we began to gather a lot with our common friends. Somehow, we ended up getting along great, and a few months later, he invited me to dinner… it was our first date.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

After four years together, he proposed when we sent to my family’s county house in La Rioja. It was 9 in the morning on a Saturday. We visited a winery and celebrated the whole weekend. The next day, we were already visiting the venue!

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.

We did not want the conventional wedding, and Rossi Landazuri proposed a concept and style to work around: “home” &“traditional”

So for example at the cocktail we created chill out corners with pallets, a 5 meters seating plan with clay pots (like the ones in our grandmother’s houses) and vegetables.

The tables for dinner were decorated with wood and iron candlesticks, flowers and vegetables. The process was lovely and we were choosing everything with Rossi in Madrid until it fit 100%. It was totally what we imagined. We got excited 2 days before just seeing the unfinished assembly, so you can’t imagine the wedding day. Each table was different. It was all very “us”. We saw ourselves reflected in each detail. Thoughtful and crazy at the same time.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

The dress is from Navascués (@nnavascues) atelier. I wanted a textured dress with a low-rise body. Navascués is a reference in Madrid, and they have a team that works wonders.

I also wanted to wear a net (like the one my mother wore on her wedding day) as a veil.

I re-used my old grandmother’s wedding dress to make a dressing gown for my getting ready time. The fabric is aged silk satin with a very special colour. I admit that I am one of those who can stand half an hour in heels, and my wedding day was not going to be an exception. I brought some Castañer with which I could non-stop all day.
