Stephanie + Michael by Lei Lei Clavey

Poor Agi our Stylist had to deal with my forever changing mind on what the style was, but we stuck by our main 3 words. Relaxed/ Simplistic and Elegant – But also FUN!

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
My husband is a Real estate agent, and I am an Interior Designer in Victoria, Melbourne. Not much to say about us. We have been together since high school. We have a beautiful dog that we are a little obsessed with. Both of us are very family orientated people so we spend our weekends with friends/ family and just relaxing. We both grow up in pretty social families so both enjoy entertaining in our little home.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
Our two best friends were dating. But had a few funny ‘meets’ prior to meeting officially. Steph was sitting outside a night club on chapel street. Trying to get into a nightclub underage. Michael was stumbling down the middle of the road. Steph called out “Webby!” and we said hi and didn’t see each other for another 6 months or so. We officially met at our friends 18th which is 13 years ago now. It was a house party and then ended up a club in Balaclava. First impressions…. Ooo that’s a tricky one. I (Steph) personally felt very comfortable with Michael from day one. He was the perfect person to walk into my life at the perfect time.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
We went up to Michael’s family farm. He took us including our dog (Dwight) out for a picnic up on a hill looking over the whole farm. He asked and I said “That would be lovely”. We pop some champagne and called all our friends and family.

Michael gave me the diamond on its own, knowing I wanted Kim Victoria to design my engagement ring. I’m very hard to buy. A simple and relaxed engagement.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
It changed about 100 times. Poor Agi our Stylist had to deal with my forever changing mind on what the style was, but we stuck by our main 3 words. Relaxed/ Simplistic and Elegant – But also FUN!

An autumn wedding was due to one of the last conversations Steph has with her Grannie. Grannie suggested I had an Autumn wedding and I said ‘ok’. So that’s what we did. Grannie passed away a few
years ago but I kept my promise. The family vintage car was a really important element of the day. Michael and I have had some special days driving the car out to wineries or just cruising around. The drive from the church to the family home was a really special moment for both of us.

We had photos at the Webb family home. This was a very easy and special choice for us. We wanted a chance to breathe and spend some quality time with our closest friends and family. We also didn’t have a traditional bridal party. Michael had his best friend from primary school and I had my sister. We both wanted the reception to just be big party without any fuss. We both had big party families so need to have a big D floor/ good band and lots of food and drink.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Michael wears a suite everyday so we really wanted him to feel different on his wedding day. My dress was made by the same dress maker that did my sister’s wedding dress. Luci was amazing during the whole process. I wanted to feel really comfortable on the day.

Both outfits were very true to us and who we are as people. We are both sentimental people. There are a lot of little details during the day that were done for specific reasons.
