One thing we didn’t even notice at the time but laugh about now is the fact we kept kissing and giggling throughout the whole ceremony. I think we were both nervous to be standing in front of so many people so we just focused on each other and then afterward realised how funny that must have looked to everyone else.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
(C) Im Cameron, 27 years old and from Melbourne. I’m a very relaxed and easy going person. I love going on adventures with Tashia and spending time with my friends and family. I’m a stair builder and have been doing that for the past 10 years.
(T) My name is Tashia, I’m 25 years old and an events co-ordinator for a Dental company. Cam and I have a French bulldog puppy named Herman who we absolutely adore, we love taking him down to the park or beach in the afternoon so he can get his zoomies out. Cam and I loooove our food and will seek out new places on Instagram and travel all over Melbourne to find the best meals.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
(C & T) We met in our early teens but were just friends for the first few years before we started officially dating in 2015. It made it really easy to transition into a couple because we had already built such a great foundation and could be ourselves with each other.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
(T) I think we both knew quite early on because we just clicked so well and have been inseparable right from the beginning. We want to spend all of our spare time with each other. Whatever I do is made better when we are together as we have so much fun with one another.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
(C) I hired an Airbnb in the Yarra Valley and I set it up with flowers and photos of us all along the balcony with a big ‘marry me’ sign at the end. It was surrounded by paddocks full of cows which I knew she would love. Tashia thought she was going to a friend’s house but I surprised her there and popped the question, followed by lots of champagne and a platter with all of her favourite snacks: a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, prawn sushi, a zinger fillet from KFC, dips and cheese.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
(T) When we began planning our wedding I already had a vision of what I wanted the day to feel like. We both wanted something fun that we could enjoy and not stress about. We didn’t bother with a lot of the old school traditions. We did all of our portraits before our ceremony so we could maximise the time we spent together with our friends and family. I made sure not to stress about anything whilst I was planning so I could enjoy each moment and really take it all in and I think that was a reflection of how the day turned out, absolutely perfect!
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
(C +T) One thing we were both happy to splurge on was our photographer Meleah, she is absolutely incredible. We ended up doing an engagement shoot before the wedding and after we got those photos back we knew we had made the right decision and that we were in the perfect hands on the day of the Wedding. To be honest, every part of our wedding and every vendor were worth every cent, we chose each vendor based on their values/personalities and we had the most amazing team who all went above and beyond.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
(T) One thing we didn’t even notice at the time but laugh about now is the fact we kept kissing and giggling throughout the whole ceremony. I think we were both nervous to be standing in front of so many people so we just focused on each other and then afterward realised how funny that must have looked to everyone else.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
(C) The inspiration for my suit came from the Netflix show Peaky Blinders. I really liked the old-school three-piece suits and knew that was the style I was going to go for.
(T) Actually, when I was looking for my wedding dress I originally wanted a full lace boho-style dress. When I first tried that style on, it did not suit my body at all. I tried on the dress I ended up choosing and knew straight away it was going to be my dress. I paired it with my mum’s wedding veil, Cam’s mum’s hoop and my grandma’s pearls.
