Tully & Isaac by Miranda Stokkel

We were always aligned on the vision for our wedding mood – a vibe bridging 70s Gucci-meets-Downton Abbey.

Tully: I’m a trend forecaster and futurist, based in Melbourne. Issac is an art/media teacher. We met on Bumble! I was up in Sydney (from Melbourne) on a trip when we matched but I flew home before we had the chance to speak. We were interstate pen pals for about a month before our first date which was five years ago.

Isaac: Early on in our relationship, when we were bouncing back and forth between Sydney and Melbourne on weekend dates, I realised that I was falling madly in love with this woman and wanted to be with her forever.

Tully: The proposal was a total surprise under the premise of a dinner date in Sydney’s Northern beaches. We stopped enroute and overlooking the ocean, Isaac got down on one knee and pulled out the most spectacular bespoke Natalie Marie solitaire diamond ring. We were always aligned on the vision for our wedding mood – a vibe bridging 70s Gucci-meets-Downton Abbey. We both love dressing-up, romance and pageantry so despite being non-traditional people, wanted to retain a few traditions and historical trimmings. For the colour and flower palette we were aiming for a 19th century, overgrown still life: roses, fruits and foliage, led by a spectrum of pinks to reds. The gardens, venue and season really leaned into that. For the reception we decided to offset the warm tones with some egg shell blue which took it into a Marie Antoinette-meets-Wes Anderson vibe which was really fun.

Tully: Our main driver was to celebrate the people we love and maximise the guest experience. So decisions like the divine Invictus Quartet playing pre ceremony to the abundance of florals at dinner (Honestly Flora wrapped them for guests to take home at the and of the night,) right through to our hand water coloured place cards, we wanted all our details to reflect our gratitude for the people who have been such a critical part of our love story. There was only ever one dress I wanted – and the only dress I tried. Christie Nicole’s Amber gown was saved to my desktop long before Isaac ever proposed. Alas, it blew out my budget by approximately 300% but being such a couture piece the accessories needs were minimal. I got unbelievably lucky manifesting my dream bridal shoes with a Google Search. When a pair from an interstate Vinnies came up for the price of a cocktail and in my size, I’ve never moved quicker to buy them!

Isaac: I’ve admired P Johnson for a long time so wanted a suit made there. I had my heart set on a black, double-breasted suit, with a cut that had a feel of the late 70s-early 80s. I wore it open with a generously sized black, cross-grain bow-tie that I learnt how to tie from online tutorials.

All the rings I wore were old wedding bands of my parents and an old signet made by my best woman Natalie Fitch (of Natalie Marie Jewellery).
