Tusha + Andy by David James Photography

Our wedding is best described as beautiful chaos. We had no rules, no themes, and nothing matchy-matchy. It was anything goes garden party.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
Tusha – We have a sheep and beef station in the Awatere Valley with a vineyard too. We really love rural life. I am into horses and Andy is into flying, together we both love jet boating in the Malborough Sounds. Before having our son Oscar, I was a landscape architect and interior designer.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

I first met Andy a very long time ago. He seemed nice but I didn’t think anything more, we had no idea our paths would lead us here.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

We had been dating for a while, and both of us are quite shy so it was a while before we both started to have those feelings.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it….

Skimming stones with our son on the shores of Lake Wanaka after a day skiing, Andy turned to ask me if this was a romantic spot, then he dropped to one knee!

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…

Beautiful chaos. No rules, no themes, and no matchy-matchy. It was anything goes garden party. We wanted to make sure the bubbles were flowing from the get-go to make sure it was a fun party with our favourite people, yummy food and good music.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

The old car we had didn’t like us stopping and starting so much on the drive from the woolshed, so when we drove into the actual ceremony, it didn’t start 200 meters before we got there, so that made for a funny walk-in. Eventually, we got it going so it could join the party.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

My Karen Walker Ritual Gown was the first and only ever dress I tried on! I also I love Seventh and Figg headpieces, I knew I wanted a blue bridal pillbox headpiece and Suz is so talented she did a beautiful job of making my headpiece come to life.
