Celebrating weddings through unposed, joyful storytelling.
Acacia & Grace Photography, led by Steph, captures weddings with a refined yet effortless approach, blending candid storytelling with subtle editorial guidance. Each image is thoughtfully composed to reflect the emotion, energy, and intimate moments of the day, creating a timeless visual narrative that feels both polished and authentic.

Your work is described as easy-going and heartfelt, focusing on documenting weddings exactly as they felt. What drew you to telling stories in this genuine, unfiltered way?
Honestly, it all began with my own wedding day which was the best day of my life (cue the happy tears). Experiencing that joy, that overwhelming sense of love with all our favourite people around us, changed everything for me. I loved it so much that I pivoted my whole business from events and family portraits into weddings and I haven’t looked back!
I’m drawn to telling stories exactly as they felt in the moment: unfiltered, joy filled and wholeheartedly genuine. It is the biggest privilege to document those once in a lifetime memories in a way that couples can look back on and remember how those moments felt.
You blend candid observation with subtle editorial guidance. How do you maintain that balance without interrupting the authenticity of the day?
For me, it starts with really understanding people and the energy of a space. I am naturally a bit of an introvert so reading the room and noticing the quiet, in-between moments is something that comes instinctively. On a wedding day this becomes one of my greatest strengths because it allows me to observe without interrupting the flow and to pick up on the small details and emotions that make the story feel so real. When I offer guidance, it is always gentle and intentional. I might give a little direction to help with light or composition, but then I step back and let the moment unfold on its own. That balance is what keeps the experience relaxed for my couples and ensures the final images feel authentic and true to how the day actually felt.

Your images feel calm yet full of feeling. How important is atmosphere to you when you’re documenting a wedding?
Atmosphere is everything, but not in the way people usually think. For me, the most important thing is that the couple feels present and genuinely has the best day. If they are having fun and soaking up every moment, the photos will naturally be full of emotion and completely beautiful, no matter what.
When I meet couples who are more focused on manufacturing perfect photos or creating moments that do not feel real, I can usually tell they are not the right fit for me. I am drawn to couples who want authentic images with true colour and honest, candid joy. If you are looking for photos that feel like you, captured with fun and heart, then I am your girl!
You’re deeply involved with your couples well before the wedding day. How does that early connection shape the way you photograph their story?
Some couples I meet well before the wedding and others I meet for the very first time on the day. Either way, I’ve supported them through their whole planning journey and by the end of the night it always feels like we have known each other for years. Since getting married myself a couple of years ago, I find it easy to relate to couples on their wedding day and I genuinely care about how they are feeling at every stage of the day. From the nervous anticipation before the ceremony to the heartfelt moments and the belly laughs during speeches, I get to witness such a full range of emotion and it creates a really natural closeness.Â
That connection shapes everything about how I photograph a wedding. When couples feel comfortable around me, they relax into the moments, and that is when the most genuine images appear. I feel incredibly honoured to be invited into such personal, once in a lifetime memories and I never take that trust for granted.

In an industry that’s constantly evolving, what do you feel truly differentiates your work from other photographers?
For me it always comes back to vibrant, true to life colour and being true to myself as a creative. It is not a trend or an aesthetic choice.. it is about honouring the real atmosphere of the day and preserving the memories exactly as they were felt. Your wedding day is unlike anything else you will ever experience and I believe the photos should reflect that.
I focus on capturing the energy, the joy and the emotion in a way that feels timeless rather than trendy. Couples come to me because they want their story told with authenticity. That commitment to truthful storytelling is what truly sets my work apart.
You’re known for capturing the in-between moments—quiet glances, small gestures, fleeting emotion. Why do those moments matter so deeply to you?
The big moments are the must-haves when it comes to wedding photography and it makes sense that they’ve become expected. But it is the little moments that often hold the most meaning. A quiet glance, a small gesture, a split second of emotion that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. These are the moments that surprise my couples when they see their gallery for the first time which I absolutely love! I love photographing these in-between moments because they reveal the true heart of the day. They show the connection, the softness, the joy and those fleeting seconds are where the real story lives. It is such a privilege to preserve them.

Your work emphasizes being supportive and easy-going. How do your personal values, relationships, and life experiences shape the way you see love through your lens?
I am a big believer in keeping things fun and completely pressure free. What matters most to me is that the couple feel at ease and genuinely enjoy their day and not feeling like they have to perform. Being a recent bride myself has shaped so much of how I approach weddings. I remember exactly how it felt to be in their shoes, and that experience helps me support my couples in a way that feels calm, reassuring and lighthearted.
I am also not afraid to be a little silly if it means helping people relax or bringing out a natural laugh. That is what I look for through my lens and it is what guides me in creating images that feel honest and full of feeling.
Working across Canberra, the South Coast, and the Southern Highlands gives you such varied backdrops. How does place influence the emotional tone of your imagery?
Place plays such a meaningful role in wedding photography. Working across Canberra, the South Coast and the Southern Highlands gives me so many beautiful backdrops to work with and each setting offers different creative possibilities. Anything new or different is so much fun for me and I love finding ways to weave the setting into the story of the day.
But no matter how stunning the location is, the emotional tone of my imagery always comes back to the couple. The way they interact, the energy they bring and the feelings they share together are what shape the mood of the photos.

Many couples want to feel natural rather than posed. What is your approach to helping them feel comfortable and present in front of the camera?
I always focus on movement when guiding couples through their portraits. Instead of asking them to hold still or fit into stiff poses, I give gentle direction that encourages them to interact, walk, laugh or simply be with each other. This keeps everything feeling natural and helps them forget the camera is even there.
Most of my couples tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera when they first enquire, but you would never know it when you look at their images!
Looking ahead, what creatively excites you most about the future of Acacia & Grace? What do you feel yourself moving toward?
I was blessed with the best adventure the same year I started weddings full time – my husband and I welcomed our beautiful baby boy into the world! So now that he’s a little older and I’m fully in my toddler mum era, I’m so excited to have more capacity to refine and elevate my client experience. I want every couple to feel completely cared for from the moment they enquire to the moment they receive their gallery. I cannot wait to capture even more stunning weddings in the future!
