Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:
We first met in 2017 in Franz Joseph on the wild West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. We had already been talking on the phone for a few months and were not just relieved that our connection was just as strong in real life, but we immediately started planning future together over dinner that night!
In the beginnings of our relationship I lived in Franz Joseph whilst Kanishka lived in Christchurch but Kanishka would drive across the country for 5 hours each way every weekend so that we could spend time together.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:
We had actually already been legally married in the Greymouth District Court House, but for our Queenstown ceremony we wanted a more personalised experience with a chance to share our own vows and have beautiful pictures taken. We chose Queenstown as this is where Kanishka proposed, we worked with celebrant Charlotte to craft the perfect vows, and wrote our heartfelt words in the beautiful Smitten With Love vow books. Our ceremony was inspired by unique story and what marriage means to us, there were many laughs, happy tears, and an epic champagne pop to finish!
Tell us about your main outfits:
Being a simple elopement wedding, we hired dress and suit from Oneday wedding studio in Queenstown, the quality of dresses is incredible, my dress was classic with train, perfect for the ceremony, comfortable to wear! Kanishka wanted to look great but feel comfortable, he chose the black suit and white shirt, a bow tie was a must, the textures and simplicity were incredible.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:
We really loved the beautiful views from Coronet Peak and the gorgeous circular ceremony arch. We also enjoyed our personalised ceremony and yummy wedding cake!
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:
In regards to planning special day, talking with your local experienced photographer or planner to have a better suggestion, don’t be so stressful take a step back and remember it’s about the two of you together to really enjoy it.
