My wedding dress was a Grace Loves Lace gown, the Lena. I fell in love with the dainty unique lace and fit.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We are certified beach bums! We live in the Florida Panhandle, in a little slice of paradise called 30a. We moved here from Atlanta about two years ago and never looked back. The opportunity arose, as my husband’s family has a vacation rental property business here, Panhandle Getaways, and I found a position on the marketing team at Alys Beach. We spend most of our time at the beach or on the nature trails with our dog, and when we aren’t exploring we’re enjoying happy hour oysters & cocktails or a good book on our porch. We’ve loved every moment of getting to experience the joys of coastal living and have already created so many unforgettable memories!
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We met in college at a fraternity party! The theme was “rhyme without reason” for the party, so I dressed as “rock” and Peter ended up dressing as “jock”. I was graduating in May and he had another year left, so we spent the summer together and visited back and forth before getting engaged.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
There’s not a specific moment I could pinpoint, but a feeling I had. He brings peace to my anxiety, which is something I wrote in my vows, and is the only way I can describe it. He just makes everything better, more calm. We have this perfect way of balancing each other out. And there are, of course, a million other reasons he’s the one but this one is my favourite.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
We got engaged on New Year’s Eve evening two years ago right at midnight. NYE was our anniversary, so I proposed the idea that we attend a rooftop party at a nearby hotel and have a little staycation/celebration. Peter easily agreed, and I should have known at that point what he was up to. The entire night I had no idea what was to come at midnight, and the entire rooftop was in on it. Right before midnight, we were looking over the balcony waiting for the fireworks to start and everyone was shouting the countdown. Right as everyone counted down to “1″ Peter turned us around and was on one knee. The whole rooftop was shouting with excitement! It really was such a special night and I’ll never forget it.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
I was planning for a whimsical, garden vibe with soft pastels of pinks, yellows and greens. With our reception space being more industrial, we wanted to lean into that and add in pops of darker colors within the florals, chargers, and black table lamps to provide subtle light while still maintaining the moodier vibe. The pastels really came from the bridesmaids’ dresses. My bouquet and the bridesmaids’ bouquets only had white florals as to not take away attention from our dresses. However, our ceremony florals had shades of blush and copper to further create the garden vibe we were going for. Additionally, the formation of our florals was intentional. With the garden feel, I wanted a more organic/relaxed look to the floral arrangements.
