Ben Parry X Crane Brothers

We sit down with Ben Parry, a friend of Together Journal and Crane Brothers.

Ben and Tyla’s wedding, featured in print earlier this year in Together Journal, showcased Ben’s impeccable custom suit from Crane Brothers. In our conversation, Ben shares insights into his bespoke suiting experience and offers some valuable advice for future grooms.

Crane Brothers are renowned for luxury menswear—what about their reputation or aesthetic made you decide they were the perfect fit for your wedding day attire?

Working in brand and marketing, I was immediately drawn to the Crane Brothers brand—the story behind it and the immaculate craftsmanship of their garments. It was an easy decision.

Was there something specific about a tuxedo that resonated with the style or theme of your wedding, or was it more about how you wanted to feel on the day?

We had a fairly formal wedding, and with my background in fashion, I’ve always appreciated a well-made suit. I’d always envisioned wearing a tuxedo on my wedding day, so it felt like a special treat to make that vision a reality.

What was it like from your first consultation through to the final fitting? How did they guide you in creating the perfect tuxedo?

My experience with Crane Brothers was nothing short of exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised when Murray himself emailed me back and scheduled my fitting. From the moment I arrived, Murray and his team made me feel welcomed and well cared for. It’s immediately clear that Murray is an absolute expert in his field, and his expertise shines through during the fitting process. Communication was seamless throughout, and Crane Brothers went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. They genuinely care about their clients and are dedicated to making you look your best on your wedding day.

Luxury tailoring is all about precision—how were you guided through choices in fabric, cut, and details to get the look just right?

It’s clear the team has extensive expertise in tailoring. Murray, with his years of experience fitting men, instinctively knows what will suit different body shapes. I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail, right down to the placement of the buttons.

Were there multiple fittings and consultations to perfect the tuxedo, and how did you find the overall time frame for such a personalised experience?

I had two fittings: an initial consultation and then a second fitting to try on the suit once it was made. At the second fitting, everything was nearly perfect—just a few small tweaks, and it was ready for the wedding day. The entire process took a few months, but it was well worth the wait.

Was there a sense of confidence or uniqueness that came with knowing your tuxedo was designed just for you?

I felt like I could do anything in that suit. It fit like a glove—perfect, comfortable, and easy to move in, with nothing too tight or baggy. Now, I can really tell the difference between a well-fitting suit and a poorly-fitting one, and the difference is quite noticeable to me.

Were you focused on traditional elegance, or did you bring any modern or personal touches into the design?

For me, the priority was ensuring everything fit perfectly and looked polished. Crane Brothers selected a fabric with the ideal weight—breathable, not too shiny, and it looked great. I was happy to trust their expertise and wasn’t disappointed. I chose a custom herringbone lining, which really elevated the final product. They also embroidered my initials on the inside pocket, which added a personal touch.

Were there any suggestions or ideas they provided that helped you refine your look or approach the design from a new perspective?

As someone who doesn’t wear a tuxedo every day, it was really helpful to get overall styling advice, especially regarding footwear and which bow tie to choose. Crane Brothers also made custom bow ties for my groomsmen, complete with their embroidered initials—the lads were stoked!
