Lahl and I actually met in Darwin in 2016 on Tinder. I was up there working as a Nurse and he was also living there for work at the time. He had a warmth about him that made me feel so comfortable and we chatted for hours that first night.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
Bree — I am a Registered Nurse and Midwife and grew up in Perth but have lived in Darwin and Brisbane before settling back in Perth 4 years ago. I love travelling and experiencing new food and cultures, being surrounded by my family and friends, but I am also happiest curled up with a good book, a glass of wine and our Groodle Hallie.
Lahl is a general manager in construction and he grew up in a country town called Armidale in NSW. His real true love is the Carlton football club but he is also a big foodie, loves wine all things sport and being at the beach.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
I first realised Lahl was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with when we were camping in Kakadu one weekend. We were talking about our future plans and I just knew we would be together. Every time I thought about my future, I could not imagine him not being in it. I feel really grateful that we got to fall in love and start our journey in such a special part of our country.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
Lahl proposed on a weekend away at Mandoon Estate in the Swan Valley. We decided to go away to celebrate my graduation as a Midwife and a belated 5-year anniversary celebration. Lahls parents had brought me a special bottle of champagne to have that weekend to celebrate becoming a midwife (little did I know that Lahl had actually told them he was proposing). So Lahl poured us the champagne, put on a song that has been really special to us in our relationship, read a note he had written and dropped the knee! It was one of the most emotional and special weekends of my life.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
Our vision/style for the wedding was modern, elegant and romantic. The southwest of WA is a really special place for my family, and now Lahl, as we have grown up spending our holidays at our family beach house in Quindalup, so we always knew it was where we wanted to get married.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Faith Anderson created my wedding dress and I knew even before I got engaged that I wanted her to create my dress. She had designed my cousin and sister in laws wedding dresses, so I saw first hand how talented she is. I knew I wanted sleeves, but the rest we worked together over the 12 months to create the dress. Faith and Sarah had such an eye for detail and I trusted them wholeheartedly with the process and I could not have been happier.
