Crafting Uniqueness: The Bespoke Process at Found Treasure Jewellery

In a world where mass-produced items dominate, the allure of bespoke craftsmanship is more captivating than ever. Found Treasure Jewellery, nestled in the heart of Cornwall’s picturesque landscape, embodies this timeless appeal. Their bespoke jewellery process is not just about creating pieces; it’s about crafting unique stories, emotions, and memories that last a lifetime.

At the helm is Naomi, the talented jeweller whose dedication transforms dreams into exquisite forever jewels, each piece imbued with personal stories and ethical values. Here, the journey of creating bespoke jewellery is as magical as the final piece itself.

The Beginning: Consultation and Inspiration

Every bespoke journey at Found Treasure Jewellery begins with a warm, in-depth consultation with Naomi. This initial meeting is an opportunity for clients to share their inspirations, dreams, and desires. Whether it’s a cherished memory, a sketch, or a photograph, Naomi listens with an artist’s ear and a compassionate heart. Together, they explore the details of the design, discussing preferred metals, gemstones, and the unique style that will capture the client’s essence.

Bringing Dreams to Life: Concept and Creation

With the seeds of inspiration planted, Naomi moves into the design phase. Here, the magic of creation begins. Combining traditional hand-drawn sketches with modern computer-aided design (CAD) software, Naomi crafts detailed representations of the envisioned piece. This collaborative process invites clients to provide feedback at every step, ensuring the final design is a perfect reflection of their dreams.

Ethical Beauty: Commitment to Sustainability

At Found Treasure Jewellery, the commitment to ethical practices is woven into the fabric of each piece. Naomi meticulously sources all materials, ensuring that the gold is recycled and gemstones are ethically obtained. This dedication to sustainability not only enhances the beauty of the jewellery but also infuses each piece with a deeper, more meaningful value. Clients can wear their bespoke creations with pride, knowing they are crafted with care for both people and the planet.

The Art of Crafting: Fabrication and Setting

With the design finalised, Naomi’s skilled hands bring the piece to life. The fabrication process is a dance of precision and artistry, where each component is handcrafted with love and attention to detail. Setting the gemstones is a particularly delicate and beautiful process, ensuring that each stone shines with its own unique brilliance. Throughout this phase, clients are kept enchanted with updates, adding to the excitement and anticipation.

The Final Flourish: Polishing and Presentation

As the journey nears its end, Naomi adds the final touches that transform the piece into a masterpiece. Polishing, engraving, and any additional enhancements are meticulously applied, ensuring the jewellery is flawless. Each bespoke piece undergoes a thorough inspection to meet the high standards of Found Treasure Jewellery.

Clients receive their unique pieces beautifully packaged, ready to be cherished and loved. The joy and satisfaction in their eyes are the ultimate reward for Naomi’s dedication and artistry.

What sets Found Treasure Jewellery apart is not just the exquisite craftsmanship but the lasting relationships Naomi builds with her clients. Quick fire questions we asked Naomi so you could get to know her better

What drew you to jewellery initially?

I’ve always been a creative type, but it wasn’t until I started making jewellery as a hobby that I found a real love for making. Working with wax is a great way to work as you are creating miniature sculptures, and I love working in this way to create wabi-sabi style shapes. Though the ancient  Japanese concept of finding beauty in the perfectly imperfect and letting my creativity flow into the piece. I am definitely one of those people who appreciates detail and a bit of a perfectionist, so making a ring to size that fits my client perfectly, is really rewarding. Plus, being able to add meaningful details really brings me so much joy.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love seeing the reaction in my clients eyes when they put their rings on for the first time. The energy in the whole room changes and we are all in a moment together, it’s really special. I’d recently been asking clients how the ring feels when trying it on for the first time, but I am thinking about changing my question because that’s always a tear-jerker. I mean, does it feel smooth and comfortable, but I think that’s also a moment when it all becomes very real.

I love the consultations, I like to imagine the ring as we discuss details and then sketching out a design is a lot of fun. It’s always a magical moment when it all starts to come together and I can share the design that’s in my mind.

What would it be like if you were designing a ring for yourself?

Good question. I feel like it is always changing. I love oval diamonds and cushion cuts. I recently saw an Edwardian ring with x5 old-cut diamonds in a traditional jewellery shop window, which really captured my imagination (see a mix of inspiring antique jewels below). I’m quite obsessed with light champagne diamonds and white gold at the moment, so I am planning to work on a new design with more of these very soon!

Advice:

How much time should I allow?

It’s ideal to reach out 4 to 12 months in advance to begin your bespoke jewellery journey. Designs are secured on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’re on a tighter schedule, please mention this in your notes on the Bespoke Interest form or during your Design Call.

How much will it cost?

Naomi will work with you to create the highest-quality design within your budget, offering the best-value stone options available. Bespoke prices cover design and making time, stone sourcing, and ongoing communication throughout the project. The range of ethical stone options and level of detail will be tailored to suit your budget. Payment plans are available upon request.

Note: If the ring is based off of one of my original designs, the process can be much quicker. For example, a change of stone colour, metal or band thickness. For Bespoke it’s ideal to get in touch…

Will my piece be ethical?

By speaking directly with the maker, you can address every detail of your bespoke piece. Naomi will personally source your ethical stone and share her creative and technical expertise on recycled metals, diamonds, and settings. Her workshop, located on the picturesque coasts of Cornwall, inspires her signature wave-like style that captivates ocean lovers worldwide.
