Hannah + Timi by Nisha Ravj

Hannah– I was born in New Zealand and moved to London five years ago, where I now work at a luxury fashion e-commerce platform. Timi– I’m Nigerian, born and raised in London. Growing up, basketball was everything to me and that led to my love of sneakers and a career at Nike. I still play, I have a Youtube channel with a friend called Pure Kicks, and I work at (authentic sneakers platform) GOAT Group.

Hannah–A few weeks after I arrived in London I signed up to a gym and went shopping for sneakers. Timo was working in the store and he asked me where my accent was from. After telling him I had only been in London for a few weeks he offered to show me around. I said ‘why not’? After about a year and a half of dating, we decided to move in together and it was just so easy, everything clicked so perfectly. I knew he was the man I was going to marry.

Timi– It was the same for me — moving day, seeing her arrive at our new flat and the grin on her face, I knew she was the one.

Hannah– I took Timi back to New Zealand in December 2019 for my sister’s wedding and his first summer Christmas. On the way back we stopped in LA where we spent Timi’s birthday. We had a dinner booked and before that Timi said we should set the timer on the camera and take a few photos. But instead of pressing the camera timer he started recording, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife!

We set our date for September 2020. We planned for 100 guests and a chic London city wedding… little did we know that the world was about to change. After two postponements and many flight cancellations, we decided we needed to re-evaluate and make the wedding more intimate. Old Marylebone Town Hall is one of the most beautiful in London and they had a really simple booking process. After all the stress I was looking for simple!

I knew I just wanted to wear something classic that also had a point of difference. After going to one bridal shop which was a bit of a flop, my sister suggested Morgan Davies Bridal. I found my Jesus Piero dress and it fit me perfectly, it felt like me, was so comfortable and – major win – it had pockets! It was the dress.

We chose to stay at The Landmark Hotel for the long weekend of the wedding because it screams old London luxury which I love. We ended up having 11 guests, mostly Timi’s family and a few very close mutual friends. We streamed the ceremony live for my family and friends in New Zealand and Australia. It was around 5am for them but they all got up and watched it.

As so few people were actually able to attend the wedding, having the best photographer we could get was super important. We rescheduled with Nisha three times as our dates moved and were so lucky to make it work.
