Jack wanted to get a picture recreating our first date which was, hilariously, a few cans of beer in Primrose Hill Park! Looking back, this part of the day was probably the most special.
Emma —— I’m a menswear buyer at Zalando and Jack is a product manager, also at Zalando, and we live in Berlin. We love travelling and trying new things. We met through work at a previous company in London. We both realised a few weeks into dating that we wanted to get married, but it took Jack another five years to propose. He planned a weekend away camping in Norfolk and wanted to propose on the pier, but the weather wasn’t playing ball. Eventually, there was a break in the rain and Jack dragged me away from my half-finished pint, to “go for a walk”.

Jack —— Our original wedding plan was to have a festival-style party in West Cork, where Emma’s family arefrom, but we had to rework our plans because of Covid. We decided on a city wedding in London.With restrictions still in place, it was important for us to make things as easy as possible forour guests. We had a civil ceremony in Hackney Town Hall and the reception in a Georgian pub.
Emma —— We knew we wanted to spend some time alone after the ceremony, so we walkedthrough Victoria Park together to the reception venue. Jack —— The music at our wedding was important to us. This would be the first time all of our friends and family had been together after two years of Covid, so we really wanted toput on a great party. Our friends’ band got everyone jumping around with their Cockney knees-upcovers. Emma, a former professional Irish dancer, took a turn to one of their covers. The next daywe danced some more at a ‘day after’ celebration in the garden of a local pub where I DJed withmy friends.
Emma —— A friend recommended a bridal shop in Hamburg she’d seen on Instagram,so I planned a day trip shopping there. I had tried on quite a few dresses at this point so decidedto pick out some separates. As soon as I tried on the top and skirt combination, I knew that was “the dress”. I also loved that it had pockets and was easy to wear. I had already seen AM Faulkneron Instagram and knew I wanted her polka dot veil, so I made an appointment at her studio in London.
Jack —— My outfit was built around a silk shirt we saw in the Soulland catwalk show.I decided a linen suit would work well with it and since it was a summer wedding, I chose alight sand colour.
