Jillian + Trevor – Film Feature by Chloe Rose Film

We wanted a classic, all-American wedding that felt like the ending credits to a rom-com.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Most of the time, you can find us at our favourite Houston restaurants, brunching it up with our friends! When we aren’t together, which is rare, you likely will find Trevor on the golf course and me in a spin class.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met in middle school! Trevor was a bit of a class clown and I was more shy and new to school. I remember thinking one day in 7th grade, “I think we are going to date one day…. Not sure when, but I think we will” We started dating our sophomore year of high school, and the rest is history!

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

There was a costume day at our school, and I dressed up as a tennis PTA mom decked out in Lululemon with a visor and a baby doll, and Trevor wore a button-down long sleeve, slacks and a briefcase, and I thought, “I’d really love it if this is how it goes for us.”  TBD on the baby and I’m more of a spin girl, but we are making some progress!

Trevor says it’s when we spent our first New Year’s together, and he thought about what he wanted the next year to bring, and he didn’t care for anything to change, that he was just really happy.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

I am a lover of park bench dedications. If we go on a walk in a park, you better believe I will be reading every single park bench dedication and crying while reading the sweet ones. One day, Trevor asked if I wanted to get snow cones, and he brought me to our favourite park bench in Houston. He goes, “Oh look, this one looks new!” The dedication read, “For the girl who loves park benches, I hope this one will be your favourite. Will you marry me?” I turn around,d and Trevor is on one knee. Cue the tears! I said YES!! And then our families came running from behind the hill they had been hiding behind. This was really one of the best days of our lives.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.

The movie Father of the Bride was my north star when planning my wedding. In every vendor meeting, I’d say, “Have you seen the movie Father of the Bride?” We wanted a classic, all-American wedding that felt like the ending credits to a rom-com. Trevor and I are high school sweethearts, and we wanted our wedding to capture the feeling of young love and the giddy excitement we felt at 15 (and still do!)

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

Our wedding video means the most to me out of all of our keepsakes. I get to relive and re-feel the excitement of the night at the click of a button. How lucky are we that we live in a time where we can just relive our very best moment and relive the moment I have dreamed of since I was a little girl with the boy I have prayed it would be with since I was 15!

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

We had a train pass by RIGHT when my dad started his speech. At first, I was so panicked; this was something he had been writing and rewriting and practising all of my life. This was his moment, and I couldn’t believe it was being ruined by a train! I waved my hand up, and I said, “Wait until the train passes”, and so we did. For a full five or so minutes, we waited for the train to pass. My dad had recently joined an improv comedy class, and it gave him some time to work the crowd and have some fun. It was a blessing in disguise, and he ROCKED his speech!

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

For our rehearsal dinner, I wore my mom’s wedding dress, My Mimi’s earrings, my Grammies diamond ring, and my grandma’s purse. It felt so special to be adorned by the things of the most important women in my life who have been such great role models of what being a wife means.
