Kowtow partners with Koha to provide clean quality clothing for vulnerable communities

We were contacted by our friends at Kowtow about this initiative by Koha, and while it’s not wedding-related, we’re delighted to share and support such an incredible mission.

Clothing is a fundamental human right, but not one everyone has equal access. This International Women’s Day, Kowtow is partnering with Koha – a female-led charity with the goal of providing quality, clean clothing to those vulnerable and marginalised in our community. Kowtow and Koha have a shared philosophy: Leave the planet better than we found it.

Launching on International Women’s Day through to April 9, Kowtow will be accepting donations in its Wellington and Auckland stores to uplift and promote Koha’s mission and the communities it serves. Kowtow will be making a contribution of its own, donating new and unworn products directly to Koha in an effort to provide quality, sustainable clothing to this cause.

Koha founder, Charli Cox, believes brands are solely accountable for the life cycle assessment of a product, which includes how to dispose of it sustainably. No company should be able to opt-out of this responsibility, so Charli has grown Koha as a platform for keeping clothing out of landfills, in circulation and available to those who have limited access.

Second-hand clothing has become a niche and expensive market making it difficult to access for those who depend on it – and it is Koha’s mission to mitigate this issue.

Donations reduce clothing sent to landfills. Want to learn more? Read about donations online at Koha.
