Liam + Laura by Iman Perdana

We didn’t want a traditional wedding — we wanted an experience.

We’re a couple, a team, and the creative duo behind Wild Pilates, our dream business and life project. After 14 years together, it felt only right that our wedding be just as much a reflection of us as the life we’ve built: relaxed, ocean-focused, and deeply personal. I am
a Pilates instructor with a passion for all things wellness. Liam, a former pro snowboarder turned creative, lives for surfing, snowboarding, and photo/video work. We met through mutual friends.

Living in different cities at the time, we only knew each other through stories and photos. I remember thinking he looked like fun and had a very impressive moustache. We kept in touch, and once we were finally in the same city, Liam didn’t waste time asking me out. Even during his snowboard seasons overseas, we made it work. We’ve always been each other’s biggest supporters.

We didn’t want a traditional wedding — we wanted an experience. So we planned something that felt like the perfect blend of wedding, honeymoon and bucket list holiday: just the two of us, barefoot on a remote beach in Indonesia. Sanubari was the dream. Classic Indonesian architecture, a shimmering pool spilling into our own private beach, palm trees swaying in the background — it was everything we wanted. Indonesia has a special place in our story. Our first holiday together was there over a decade ago, and we even lived in Bali for a time. It was important for us to focus on presence, not logistics, so we found a place where we could do everything in one spot, simply and beautifully.

Styling-wise, we let the setting lead. Elevated, minimal outfits were the perfect contrast to the raw beauty of the surroundings. My outfit was the only one I tried on. I found a corset online, tried it with a skirt and knew it was perfect. I later designed a custom veil with LVR Bridal which tied the look together and made me feel like a bride. Liam chose an all-black ensemble with a boxy, masculine fit by Porter James Sports — timeless and very him. Our rings were extra special, made by Liam’s friend Colin, who also happened to be his old snowboarding coach. Liam worked with him to design my emerald engagement ring, and later, we returned to him for our wedding bands. I chose a simple gold band to complement the engagement ring, and Liam went for a statement signet, hand-carved with Colin’s guidance.

Some of our favourite memories from the day? The morning we spent together — a beach walk, Pilates, coffee, a swim — all before getting ready. Our vows. Liam seeing me in my veil. And the moment we were standing on the beach at sunset with a herd of buffalo nearby — just us, finally married, taking it all in. We always said we’d only spend money on the things that truly mattered: location, photography, outfits we loved, and rings we’d wear forever. That mindset led us to the most meaningful day of our lives.
