Michelle & Andrew by Fiona & Bobby

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship … Michelle – I am a PA by day. I live to eat (seriously ask anyone, food is my life!), reading books, snuggles with our puppy Pablo and thrift shopping.

I am a free spirit and love being creative. From the day Andrew and I met, which is over 5 and a half years ago now, we have never stopped talking. People talk about the “spark”- what we had was electricity. He lights me up inside, makes me laugh, radiates positivity, let’s me be me and is the “water” to my fiery personality. I honestly love him more and more each day and I don’t think many people find that in their lifetime so I count my lucky stars that I get to call him mine.  He’s my lobster (if you know the reference, I like you).

Andrew – I am a tradie. I love gaming, burgers, my puppy and of course spending time with my wife watching our favourite tv shows, eating and making each other laugh. I consider myself a handyman and love a good DIY project. I’ve never met anyone quite like Mish. Her weirdness never fails to amuse me. She has also brought out my weird side and makes me want to do more. Life is an adventure with her.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

We both agreed we wanted the day to be a reflection of us, to give our guests an insight into our relationship. We knew straight away we wanted a dark and moody winter wedding. We are big Game of Thrones fans so “Wedding is Coming” was our guide throughout the planning stages and our wedding hashtag #CadorinIsComing was fitting.

Michelle – I had a vision of a black reception, black tablecloths, lots of candles and pops of colour with scattered florals – think the final scene in Romeo & Juliet even though it’s dark and macabre. I wanted a really dark, moody and intimate settting. When I talked through my vision with our event co-ordinator she was a little taken aback as black is not usually the colour pallette for a wedding but she ran with it.  The end result was a masterpiece! My vision had come to life! Our reception felt like magic. Our bridal table was divine and a real eccentric and neon dream come true. The addition of the Iron Throne was only booked a month out from the wedding but what we think was one of the best things we did! Who goes to a wedding and gets to sit on the Iron Throne!?!?!? Also we were obsessed with our sugar cookie favours which were little pizzas and burgers. Another personal touch as these are our favourite foods!

Tell us about your main outfits:

Andrew – The bride is of course the outfit highlight of the day but I didn’t want to get lost in the crowd and have a boring blazer. The green velvet blazer caught my eye one day while online shopping and I ordered on impulse. It fit like a glove! The dark colour also worked perfectly with our winter wedding vibes. Michelle – After we got engaged and I began looking at wedding dresses I knew I wanted to get married in the ‘Stevie’. When I finally tried her on I knew she was the one. I am not even joking when I say the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to started playing in the dress shop! It was spooky. I am a bit more grunge so the Stevie was the perfect balance of feminine without being too over the top. I then added a leather jacket and bright red heels. Ps. I also changed into my Doc Martens for the dancefloor later because why not be totally and completely yourself.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Michelle – I remember waking up in the morning and feeling like I was in a dream. The exhilarating rush of hair, make up, getting dressed, taking photos – it all felt like an out of body experience. I will never forget that last breath I took before stepping into the church and laying eyes on Andrew waiting for me at the end of that aisle. That is the moment I became fully present and it was just this rush of emotion. Our entire day was filled with so much laughter. I remember my cheeks actually hurt by the end of the night because I don’t think I ever stopped smiling. I will also never forget our first dance. It honestly felt like the world had melted away and it was just Andrew and I, singing our song to one another for the millionth time (amidst many happy tears)
Andrew – When the flower girls started walking down the aisle, I thought “This is really happening”. And then bam, Mish starting walking down the aisle and it’s this moment that I will never forget. When the priest said I could kiss my bride I felt overwhelmed with love that this woman was now my wife. There were also some very funny moments when we were taking photos. We didn’t stop laughing all day and our photos and videos definitely captured this happiness.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

When planning your day, don’t do it for Instagram or to impress other people. Make it personal and a reflection  of you both as a couple. After all, it is a celebration of your love! You want people to leave the reception feeling like they were a part of something special. Decide on what is most important to you both on the day. For us it was the food and the music! Work towards what is most important and everything else will fall into place. We promise. Trust in your vendors/suppliers/coordinators. They do this for a living! And don’t forget to take 10 minutes of alone time together on the day. You just got married holy shit! Take it all in! Enjoy every second as the day really does go by so quickly. Invest in really good photographers and videographers so you can relive the day forever.
