Years of camaraderie and a shared passion for aesthetics and practicality unite SABEN founder and creative director Roanne Jacobson with her friend and gifted artist Gidon Bing. The long-awaited Bronze Terra Collection seamlessly fusing artistic ingenuity with meticulous design. Rooted in her artistic beginnings in New York City, founder and Creative Director Roanne Jacobson consistently draws upon the world of art as a primary source of inspiration, shaping each season’s distinctive design and direction for SABEN.
Artistic Harmony
Central to this collection is a profound artistic kinship, as Roanne finds inspiration in the mesmerizing creations of her lifelong friend, the esteemed artist and sculptor Gidon Bing. Roanne discovered new avenues of creativity within the earthy allure of metallics, guided by Gidon’s sculptures, which served as a wellspring of influence. Her pursuit led to the addition of pieces to the seasonal lineup that pays tribute to the timeless charm of ancient bronzes, complemented by graceful shades of green that flawlessly complete the palette.
While both based in Auckland, Roanne and Gidon draw inspiration from a global perspective. Gidon’s artworks embody a fusion of traditional artisanship and contemporary design principles. His commitment to minimalism and practicality resonates deeply with Roanne’s design ethos, philosophy, and creative process.
“I try to create the most simple vessel possible for its use, and work to refine and simplify it without compromising on function until I reach an optimum scale and form,” says Gidon Bing.
