Molly + Grant by Folmar Film

Another key element for me was centring the design around yellow.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Molly is in advertising, and Grant is a real estate attorney. We’re from Houston and Dallas, respectively, but now call Austin, Texas, home. We love to travel, try new restaurants, and spend time with family and friends. Individually, Molly is passionate about cooking, and Grant is an avid runner. Some of our favourite places to be in the world – outside of home – are New Orleans, New York, Paris, and at Molly’s family ranch in La Grange, Texas. We both graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where our love story began in 2015. The city has been home to so many milestones and great times together, and we know that it will host countless special times in the future.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We went to summer camp together at Camp Champions, so technically, the first time we met was in the late 2000s. Molly maintains that we weren’t friends at camp. It wasn’t until the Spring of 2015 that we reunited as we were both getting set to go to UT. Molly DM’d Grant on Facebook, saying how exciting it was that we were both going to UT, and that’s where the gears started turning for Grant. We quickly started hanging out freshman year, and that set everything in motion. Molly’s first impression of Grant was that he was cute, but the more she got to know him, she realised that he was also kind and caring, and she quickly discovered that she felt comfortable around him to the point where she could always be herself. Grant’s impressions weren’t far off. He was captured by her beauty and charm and couldn’t get her out of his mind.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.).

When we first started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted it to have a sense of movement and truly give our guests a taste of Round Top. One of the most important things to me was that the dinner portion felt like a genuine dinner party rather than a traditional wedding meal — and that’s exactly what came to life at Lulu’s.

In terms of mood, Jardin de France perfectly set the romantic tone for our ceremony, which flowed seamlessly into the lively, “dinner party” atmosphere at dinner. The night ended in true Round Top fashion with the most epic celebration at the dance hall. I loved how the evening naturally evolved — starting out elegant and ending as a full-blown party.

Another key element for me was centring the design around yellow. It’s my favourite colour, and it also happened to be the colour of the summer, which made it so fun to find everything from florals to table décor that tied into the theme. While most of the wedding leaned into yellow, my mom and I ran with a bold idea: each room during the dinner party would have a completely different theme. Every space had its own chargers, flatware, florals, and table settings — making each room feel distinct yet still authentic to the restaurant. Seeing that come to life was one of my favourite moments of the night.

I also have to give a major shoutout to the dance floor from Mike’s Dance Floors. Our wedding planner, Becky, had the most brilliant idea to make it a yellow bandana print — and it became the centrepiece of the dance hall, far exceeding my expectations.

What made our wedding venues (yes — we had three, which was wild!) so special was how we allowed their natural beauty and charm to shine, while collaborating with incredible vendors who elevated the spaces and made everything feel uniquely “us.”

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

As mentioned above, the venues really spoke for themselves, but our vendors did an unbelievable job taking them to the next level. This vision truly came to life through our floral vendor, Wild Bunches. Kat and her team created the most whimsical, show-stopping florals imaginable. One of my favourite examples was our yellow chuppah — it was the only floral element in the ceremony space, perfectly complementing the gorgeous French room at Jardin de France while serving as a joyful centrepiece that set the tone for our happy wedding.

Finding those extra touches of personality and detail was so important to us and made the day feel even more special. Beyond the stunning florals, we incorporated small, meaningful details throughout. During cocktail hour, all of the hors d’oeuvres and drinks were served on our great-grandmother’s silver, which made the moment feel so personal and connected to family. We also spent hours working with the Atelier du Papier team to design custom cocktail napkins, cups, escort cards, and other paper goods that echoed our wedding invitations — tying every detail together in such a thoughtful and special way.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

Grant and I got married just six months after our engagement — which was no easy feat! What made it so special, though, was bringing to life all of the ideas that my (Molly) mom and I had dreamed up together. This wedding was truly her brainchild, and it was such a joy collaborating with her and our planner, Becky, to make every detail come to life. It was such a fun experience for my mom and me to do this together, and we had SO much fun watching everything come to life.

The planning process also felt incredibly meaningful because it was so unique to Grant and me. Our wedding was far from traditional, but it was authentically us — and I would encourage anyone planning a wedding to trust their instincts and do what feels right. It makes the day that much more special, not just for you, but for your guests too.

Flowing through three different venues in one night was definitely a little wild, but it made the evening so dynamic and exciting. We loved thinking through how to make each space feel distinct, fun, and memorable for everyone. At the end of the day, we had the best night of our lives — and I think that’s a true testament to doing things our own way and not giving in to the pressure of a “traditional” wedding.

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?

Picking the right vendors truly makes or breaks your wedding — and wow, ours absolutely made it! Every single one of them was exceptional. It’s honestly hard to single out standouts because each vendor played such an important role in making the day perfect.

Folmar Film was our photographer and videographer, and when I say they made our day what it was, I’m not exaggerating! Their calm yet fun demeanour set the tone from the very start. They made everyone — especially our families — feel comfortable and confident, and they managed the entire morning and timeline at our ranch in La Grange flawlessly, even without other vendors around. They truly crushed it.

I also have to give huge credit to Wild Bunches. Their florals exceeded my wildest dreams. Kat and my mom worked tirelessly to perfect the vision, and the way they executed everything across three venues — each with its own distinct vibe — still leaves me in awe. I truly can’t recommend them enough.

I also can’t forget about V.B. Music! They DJ’d my cousin’s wedding in San Miguel, and I completely fell in love with their energy. From that moment, I knew I wanted them for our wedding. I wanted the dancing portion of the night to feel like a full-on party — the kind where everyone is on the dance floor from start to finish — and they absolutely delivered. They did such an incredible job keeping the energy high and playing all of our favourite songs. One of my favourite moments of the night was when they moved to the speakeasy in the dance hall and played a late-night DJ set that truly felt like an underground Boiler Room–style house party. It was such a cool, unexpected twist that perfectly capped off the night.

Of course, our planner is Becky from Pearl Events! (Did I mention we had three venues?) Her logistical brilliance and ability to coordinate every moving part of the night were what made everything come together so seamlessly. She kept us organised, calm, and having the best time from start to finish.

Finally, I have to give a special shoutout to the venues themselves. The teams at Jardin de France, Lulu’s, and the dance hall were beyond accommodating through every twist and turn of the planning process. We’re so grateful for how willing they were to collaborate with us and help make our dream night a reality.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?

I had an itch to wear yellow instead of white for Friday night, and the moment I tried on the Jacquemus yellow dress, I knew it was the one. I was absolutely obsessed with it — it felt so fun and unexpected, and it perfectly set the tone for our wedding weekend.

For the wedding day itself, I chose a KYHA gown with an open back and high neckline. Anyone who knows me knows I’m drawn to anything with a high neck, so it probably came as no surprise that that’s what I went with. I felt so confident and happy in it — it was truly my dream dress. What made it even more special was wearing my great-grandmother’s diamond bracelet. I was named after her, and having that piece of her with me all night made it feel incredibly meaningful.

For the after-party, I found the most perfect sequined Alice and Olivia mini dress — but it originally had a deep V neckline. As I mentioned, I love a high neck, so the amazing alterations team at Laura Couture & Alterations in Houston reworked it into a halter style for me. It turned out perfectly and was the ideal dress to dance and celebrate all night long!

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.

We had the privilege and honour of working with Sylvie Jewlery out of Dallas, Texas, for both our wedding bands and engagement ring. What made this a special experience was not only the professionalism, care, and attention to detail that Ian, Sylvie, Gary, and Steve Levine (a family-owned business) put into the process, but also that Gary and Steve are two of Grant’s closest friends since childhood and stood in the wedding as groomsmen.

It was a special experience for Grant to be able to work with his best friends on the most important purchase and event of his life. The Levines treated us like family and exceeded our wildest expectations, including gifting Molly a set of earrings that she wore during the wedding ceremony.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).
We had three separate venues for the ceremony, dinner, and reception and could not imagine having done it any differently. While untraditional and a logistical puzzle, the venues made the night what it was. Hosting our wedding in Round Top, Texas, was always a dream of Molly’s, and so spending the time, effort, and capital on making that dream come true was worth it. Round Top, close to the Horowitz family ranch in La Grange, has played a role in our love story, and we have amazing memories of family and friends over the years in that small town. Being able to showcase the great people, food, drink, and style of the town was important to us, and we know our guests walked away understanding how special the place is.

We would also say that the florals really were worth the money for us – the Wild Bunches team were unbelievable at enhancing the charm of each venue and making the night so unique.

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?

It’s so hard to pick just one favourite moment! We both got ready at our family home in La Grange, which was incredibly special. That house holds so many happy memories for us — including our engagement — so starting our wedding day there felt so meaningful. I had always imagined spending part of my wedding at the place that means so much to us, and being there truly set the tone for the perfect day. We had the best time with our friends, sharing those first few hours in such a relaxed and comfortable setting before everything began.

Our ceremony also meant the world to us. It was important that it felt traditional yet deeply personal, and sharing our vows in front of our closest family and friends is something we’ll never forget. We were both moved to tears for most of the ceremony — it was emotional, heartfelt, and the perfect beginning to our lives together, surrounded by so much love.
